I May Be Wrong, But… Jordany Valdespin, Rotations, Posts, New Writers

• One has to wonder what the Mets are going to do with Jordany Valdespin. He seems to be ready to make the jump, though it would probably make sense to play him every day in Buffalo. The question then seems to come down to what position he would play. Scouts tend to feel that his best position is second base, and God knows the Mets need a real one there, but wasn’t Reese Havens supposed to play there for Buffalo this season? The quick fix would have Spin at short and Josh Satin at second until Havens comes around. That would leave Alan Dykstra at first with Val Pascucci spelling Dykstra. It gets real confusing when you throw in Omar Quintanilla, who the Mets really like at short. Good problems.

 • It seems that the leaks have begun out of camp regarding who is going to pitch where. This is the time of the year where reporters stop coaches and ask direct questions like “is Joe Blow starting the year in Buffalo?”. You never get a direct answer “on the record”, but you might force a little hesitation or a smile. Everybody seems to agree that Jeurys Familia will start in Buffalo, and Zack Wheeler will pitch B-Mets, but it’s a mixed bag on Matt Harvey. I wouldn’t be surprised that it wasn’t a mixed bag before his last start.

 • I apologize for the lack of original posts lately from the writers here at Mack’s Mets. Everyone does this for free and they all have real jobs and responsibilities to feed their families first. I’m keeping the fort down and I’m sure things will heat up once the season starts.

 • If any of you would like to join the staff of Mack’s Mets, or if you know somebody I haven’t pissed off that might be approachable, please email me at: macksmets@gmail.com . Thanks.
