I May Be Wrong, But… thoughts on Saturday

1. Ike Davis (.258, HR) and Lucas Duda (.321, HR) seem to be just about season ready.

 2. Jordany Valdespin (.324) continues to prove he just may be ready to play at this level.

 3. Mike Baxter (.361) looks to have beaten out Adam “I Got It!” Leuwen for the LHH outfielder.

 4. Bobby Parnell (0.00) is showing the critics that he shouldn’t be sent down.

 5. Josh Edgin (0.00) just doesn’t give up runs.

 6. The infield defense (two more errors today) remains a critical concern.

 7. Jason Bay has become an embarrassment.

 8. Mike Pelfrey should be released and the money should be sent to the Teamsters

It wouldn't surprise me to see David Wright held back when the Mets break camp, and the starting lineup include Daniel Murphy at 3B and Valdespin on second

I also believe that Chris Schwinden is a lock to break camp. They may tell you he's going to be a long man, but, in my book, he's an SP5 in waiting

Lastly, don't be surprised if Pelfrey goes on the IR with some mysterious elbow problem.

Oh, boy........I would LOVE to see anyone else (OK, maybe not anyone, but most anyone) step up and take Pelfrey's rotation spot.

I am a bit rough on ol' Mike, but how much more do the Mets' decision makers need to see?

Oh, and Matt Harvey will be a beast someday soon, but he is NOT ready yet, IMO.

I am still holding out hope that Nieuwenheis returns to camp this week and starts raking in Minors games and gets called up to start on Opening Day. Den Dekker is not ready offensively and "Spin" is not ready defensively for CF.

Also I dont think anyone is as high on Edgin as I am right now. I WANT him in the bullpen for us. He's flat out good. His Fastball/Slider combo are Major League Ready NOW and the ST numbers are showing that. Plus idk if anyone's watch him pitch on TV yet but its kinda hard to pick up the ball out of his hand with his delivery.

Re: Edgin... Byrdak should be back two weeks into season, thus, the promotion of Edgin looks like it will happen. He's not being looked at as a long term 2012 solution.

I think Rottino has a chance of sticking as a utility OF/C/1B

BTW - I have stood behind the catcher during warm-up session by Edgin. You are correct. You pick up the ball late.
