OFF DAY: The entire Eastern League had an off day on Monday. This was Binghamton’s third off day of 2013. There next one comes next Monday, June 10.

LAST GAME: The B-Mets used a 13-hit attack to blow past the New Hampshire Fisher Cats, 7-2, on Sunday afternoon. They took the lead with five runs in the fifth inning and never looked back en route to their league-leading 33rd win of the season. Darrell Ceciliani led the offense with three RBI. Cesar Puello added three hits, including a solo home run in the seventh inning to pad the lead. On the mound, Jacob deGrom earned his second Double-A win of the season. The righty threw 5.1 innings and allowed two runs on four hits. New Hampshire’s Sean Nolin was handed his first loss in 2013 after allowing five runs on nine hits in five innings.

BINGHAMTON STARTING PITCHER: RHP Erik Goeddel makes his 11th start of the season for the B-Mets, and his first against Trenton. The righty was given a no-decision on May 28 vs. Altoona. He gave up three runs over six innings, and only allowed three hits. 6.0 innings matches Goeddel’s longest outing of the season; he has done that four times. In May he went 3-0 with a 4.40 ERA, and held hitters to a .221 batting average. Binghamton has won each of his last seven starts, and are 8-2 overall when he pitches. The Mets drafted Goeddel in the 24th round of the 2010 draft out of UCLA.

TRENTON STARTING PITCHER: RHP Zach Nuding makes his 12th start of the season for the Thunder, and his first against Binghamton. He won his last start after allowing one run in six innings against the Erie Seawolves. The only run against the righty came on a solo home run by Eugenio Suarez. The win ended a streak of three straight losses for Nuding. Opponents are hitting .269 against him. He was drafted by the Yankees in the 30th round of the 2010 draft out of Weatherford College (TX). He was also drafted in 2009 by the Pirates but he did not sign.

QUICK ROADTRIP: The B-Mets are back at NYSEG Stadium after a three-game series against the New Hampshire Fisher Cats. After dropping the series opener, 8-7, they finished the series with two victories. Sunday’s win gave them their third straight series victory.

NINE GAMES OVER .500: Sunday’s victory put the B-Mets at 33-24. They are nine games over .500 for the first time since July 5, 2008 (48-39).

AGAINST THE THUNDER: Tuesday begins the second series of the season between the B-Mets and the Thunder. The B-Mets went 1-2 against them in the first series May 6 - 8 in Trenton. They play 17 times in 2013.

BULLPEN SUCCESS: The B-Met bullpen has not given up a run in any of the last four games (11.1 IP). Jeff Walters leads the league with 13 saves. Jack Leathersich has only allowed earned runs in one of his 20 appearances. He has also struck out 49 batters in 26.1 innings. Chase Huchingson is 2-1 with a 2.10 ERA and Adam Kolarek is also 2-1 with a 2.16 ERA. As a whole, the bullpen has a 3.45 ERA.

PLAYING MUCH BETTER: Since being no-hit by Harrisburg on May 9, the B-Mets are 16-7. They have gained 6.5 games in the Eastern Division during that stretch. In 13 of those 23 games, Binghamton has collected at least 10 base hits.

THE STREAK CONTINUES: Josh Rodriguez has now hit safely in 19 consecutive games. He is hitting .425 (31-73) during the streak, and has 17 RBI. This is the longest streak by anyone at the Double-A level in 2013. The last B-Met to hit in 19 straight games was Juan Lagares in August 2011.

NEXT GAME PREVIEW: The B-Mets continue their three-game series against the Thunder on Wednesday at NYSEG Stadium. First pitch is at 6:35 PM as the B-Mets send LHP Mark Cohoon to the mound to face RHP Mikey O’Brien for Trenton.
