Draft 13 - Round 10 (296 overall) - SS - Luis Guillorme
5'10" 170lbs DOB: 09/27/94 - Coral Springs Charter HS (FL)
MLB-com - 5'10" 170lbs DOB: 09/27/94A native of Venezuela, Guillorme came to the United States as a teenager. He is a slick fielder following in the tradition of excellent Venezuelan shortstops. Guillorme is one of the best defenders in this Draft class. He has plus range, a plus arm and is capable of making every play asked of a shortstop. Offensively, Guillorme makes a lot of contact with an inside-out swing. He has minimal power and is a below-average runner, but it is his glove that will carry him as a professional. Guillorme is committed to the State Junior College of Florida.
Callis: Vizquel like defense at SS
Luis Guillorme is a 2013 high school graduate and he is already being considered by many as the premier Shortstop for the 2013 College Baseball Recruiting Season. Guillorme is a “work-horse” on the field for his high school team. He also has an incredible “swagger” in his game, but however is very humble in his ways.
“Luis Guillorme is a hustler and has the ability to “wow” you with his defensive ability at any point in the game”, says Coach Paul Herfuth Head Baseball Coach of the Chaminade Madonna Lions. “All throughout his career here at Chaminade he has made spectacular play after play demonstrating his remarkable physical abilities” He went on to say.
Guillorme is very agile and quick. He runs a 60 in 7.0’’. He hits from the left side of the plate, helping him get to first base even faster than most guys around. Luis is a great offensive threat too. He typically hits in the top of the line-up for most teams he plays on. He can generate runs for his team by hard contact hitting and overall hustle and speed. http://perfectrecruitsluisguillorme2013 ... eport.html
Todd Gold: I officially love the Mets draft class! The walking webgem Luis Guillorme rounds out their top 10 rounds.
David Rawnsley: Todd, you have said before that Guillorme was worth 2-3 web gems every time you've seen him, mostly with the South Florida Elite. And you've seen them play a ton!
