In an exciting series finale, the Braves defeated the Sand Gnats 6-3 Sunday afternoon with 2,427 fans in attendance.
After a rain delay that lasted one hour and forty-eight minute rain delay, the game was underway. Savannah broke out in the seventh scoring all of their three runs. The inning began with a lead off double by Jeff Reynolds followed by a walk to Phillip Evans. Brandon Nimmo later hit a RBI double allowing Reynolds to cross the plate. A wild pitch allowed Evans to score followed by a RBI single from Jayce Boyd for the score 3-0.
Rome tied the game in the eighth scoring three runs off of four hits. Ronald Luna doubled followed by a Josh Elander single for the first run of the inning. Levi Hyams added an RBI single to score Elander and the third run of the inning crossed the plate on a double play ground out. The Braves put together a dramatic finish in the ninth. Felix Marte doubled and Eric Garcia walked. With two outs and a 2-1 count, Elander (10) launched a massive homerun to left field to win the game 6-3.
Zach Jadofsky (3-1) was awarded his third win of the season while Bret Mitchell (1-2) was tagged with his second loss.
