St. Anthony School (IL) - RHP, R/R, 6-3, 170, 5-31-95
PG - Benjamin Hecht is a 2013 RHP/3B with a 6-3 170 lb. frame from Effingham, IL who attends Effingham St. Anthony's HS. Slender young build, lots of room to fill out. Tall on line delivery, clean arm circle with loose arm out front, 3/4's release, repeats well and stays balanced. Warmed up at 86-87 mph on his fastball, mostly 83-85 mph to hitters, 2-seam action on fastball, consistent run and sink, ground ball pitcher who pounds the bottom of the zone. Very good change up, maintains arm speed with good life, a bit firm on occasion. Good spin on 70 mph curveball, 11/5 depth, shows sharp biting action. Works quickly and throws strikes with all three pitches, has pitchability and gets lots of ground balls. Would like to see more 86-87's to hitters but projects well physically and that should come.
My name is Ben Hecht and I am currently a Junior attending St. Anthony High School in Effingham Illinois. I have 3 older brothers, Anthony who plays baseball at Arkansas State University, Matt who plays baseball at Lakeland Community Collge, and Adam is a senior at St. Anthony. My entire life has been about doing what I can to push my self to reach the next level of baseball. I have played for many years now and through those years have played with many teams all of which we have accomplished something worth remembering. An accomplishment of the teams I have played on is that we have gone to the World Series 4 different occasions all with great teams from across the nation and even the world. The name of the so called conference that we played in for my first 3 years was called USSSA. The first time I attended the USSSA World Series was at the age of 11 was when my local community put the best players from around the area on one team and named it the Effingham All-Stars. The World Series was located in Branson Missouri where we were heavily unfavored. Through all the adversity the Effingham All-Stars put all the pieces together and ended up finishing as runners-up and though we were disappointed when losing after just 1 out left in the game we were still proud of the fact we over achieved. The following year at the age of 12 we managed to get the Effingham All-Stars back together and we played in the next World Series in Knoxville Tennessee where this time we were heavily favored after such an impressive run last year. However, we were disappointed to not even make it out of pool play and head home early. At the age of 13 we were unable to get the All-Stars back but instead made a new team The Effingham Connextion with an "x" instead of "ct". That year we traveled to Columbus Indiana to play in the next World Series and played well enough to get back to the championship game where we disappointedly lost again. At the age of 14 I decided to step up a level and play on the 15u Effingham County Pride. This team was great for me because they wanted to do something special and enter a new conference called MCYSA which at the end of the season has an International World Series where teams from all over come to compete and win the title Champions. Then just this last season I played for the Effingham County Legion team. However, I recieved the opportunity to play out of age division and play with my brother Matt in 18u division. On this team we won our Division but unfortunately placed 4th in our District. Then finally came my Junior Fall baseball with St. Anthony High School. We finished the season losing in the NTC Championship to T-Town giving us 2nd in the conference. In this year I finished with a .583 batting average, .652 on base percentage, 1.028 slugging percentage, and a total of 74 total bases collected over 72 at bats. http://www.ncsasports.org/baseball-recruiting/il/effingham/st-anthony-high-school1/benjamin-hecht
