Lawley Powers Mets Past Clearwater 4-2

 

CLEARWATER, FLA. —  Dustin Lawley hit a two-out, two-run home run to left in the tenth inning to lift the Mets past the Clearwater Threshers 4-2 on Tuesday.

The Mets won their third straight game and have picked up victories in the first two games of the series against Clearwater.

Aderlin Rodriguez had a two-out single to left in the tenth before Lawley ripped the first pitch and lined a two-run blast to left for his team-leading 12th home run of the season.

Chasen Bradford struck out Maikel Franco with runners at first and second in the ninth to escape the jam. Bradford earned his third win of the season in relief.

Hamitlton Bennett allowed back-to-back singles with two outs in the tenth before striking out Kyrell Hudson looking to end the game for his fourth save.

Alex Panteliodis pitched 6 1/3 innings and allowed two earned runs and nine hits.

Estarlin Morel pitched 1 1/3 scoreless innings in relief.

Rodriguez had an RBI single to score Matt Reynolds in the first and Cam Maron added an RBI single to left to plate Charley Thurber in the second.

The Mets will play at Clearwater on Wednesday at 7 p.m. Rainy Lara will make the start for the Mets.
