Charleston 3 - Savannah 1

The Savannah Sand Gnats’ five-game winning streak was ended Sunday evening as the Charleston RiverDogs bested the Gnats 3-1 at Joe P. Riley Jr. Park. Savannah starter Chris Flexen suffered his team-high fourth loss allowing three earned runs on six hits and four walks over five and two-thirds innings.

The Gnats (24-10) scored in the first inning when LF Jared King singled home 3B Jeff McNeil for what turned out to be an unearned run charged to Charleston starterBrady Lail. The RiverDogs righty proceeded to hold the Gnats scoreless over the next five frames to earn his fourth consecutive win. Lail also racked up nine strikeouts to just one walk while allowing only four hits.

Charleston (19-16) tied up the game in the third inning with two outs when SS Tyler Wade tripled and then scored on a CF Mikeson Oliberto double. The RiverDogs then tacked on two more runs in the fifth by way of an RBI single by Wade and then an RBI sacrifice-fly from Oliberto. Wade finished the night 2-for-3 with two runs scored.

After Flexen was removed, Gnats reliever Tim Peterson delivered a perfect two and one-thirds innings, generating three swings-and-misses.
Savannah could not get the big hit, going 1-for7 with runners in scoring position and stranding seven batters.

Center fielder Patrick Biondi’s fifth inning single extended his 10-road-game consecutive on-base streak. - team press release

Good to see they are hanging in with Flexen. He'll get it.
24-10 without much hitting...wow.

Thomas, I've been to 2 Flexen starts...

He's just all over the place and looks a little overmatched at this level
