Draft 14 – Tyler Kolek, Max Pentecost, AJ Reed, Casey Gillaspie, Branson Trube

2-3-14 – MaxPreps - Top 10 MLB Draft Prospects in high school - 3. Tyler Kolek, Shepherd (Texas) A break on his non-throwing hand limited Kolek's playing time last year and as a result he wasn't even listed in the first mock draft released in June. However, since June, when he threw around 100 mph in a showcase event, Kolek has consistently been one of the top three high school players listed. Kolek is a big kid at 6-5, 250 pounds. Some scouts see Kolek capable of adding a few mph to his fastball if he gets in better condition. He will likely be the top high school pitcher chosen and probably won't last past the fifth pick in the draft. http://www.maxpreps.com/news/B41AzcsA90iOL5xwFL8T7Q/top-10-major-league-baseball-draft-high-school-prospects.htm

3-25-14 – TTF 10 college players on the rise — week 6  - Max Pentecost, C, Kennesaw State (13) - On March 21 against Lipscomb, Pentecost went 3-for-6 with two doubles, a home run and a walk while knocking in six runs. Over his last four, he is 7-for-16 with three doubles, a triple, a home run and two walks. The 6’-1” right-hander has already proven he will be able to stick behind the plate with his plus arm and footwork, but he is now showing that the power potential is real along with his hit tool. Over 27 games, he is now hitting .330/.403/.491 with 10 doubles, two home runs and eight stolen bases, showing his speed and athleticism. A near lock for the first round. http://throughthefencebaseball.com/2014-mlb-draft-10-college-players-rise-week-6/42071#MDUXGtxd7YCtKt0X.99

3-9-14 – MLB Draft Insider - AJ Reed – 1B Kentucky – Reed has been both a hitter and a pitcher in his career at Kentucky. There has been some debate over where his professional future would be. Reed played first today, but he is also the Friday night starter for Kentucky. On the day Reed was one for three with two runs scored, a homerun, and a strikeout. The home run was the eighth of the year for Reed, which leads college baseball. His start is reminiscent of Hunter Renfroe’s last season, who also exploded out of the gate. As a pitcher this year Reed has a 1.38 era and .196 b/avg, but the rest of the numbers aren’t overwhelming. As a hitter this season he has a .563 OBP, .962 SLG, and has a BB/K of 1.56. He has been nearly impossible to get out as a hitter this season, and is a name to watch early on. http://mlbdraftinsider.com/2014/03/the-rundown-march-8/#more-3872

3-5-14 – TTF - 10 college players on the rise — week 3 - Casey Gillaspie, 1B, Wichita State (93) - Over his last five games, the 6’-4”, 240 pound switch-hitter has gone 9-for-17 (.529) with two doubles, a triple, a home run and he has drawn seven walks to no strikeouts for the Shockers. He is currently fifth in the nation in hitting at .526 and 11th in OBP at .640. An on-base machine, he hit .299 over 66 games as a sophomore with 16 doubles, 11 home runs and drew a whopping 62 walks. With tremendous power and an advanced approach from both sides of the plate, his bat is his calling card, and he probably won’t last past the second round of the 2014 MLB draft if he keeps hitting the way he is. http://throughthefencebaseball.com/2014-mlb-draft-week-3/41478#ilZqhEaASo2Kkjik.99

OF - Branson Trube, Sr., Mountain View (Idaho) - Ideal combination of speed and power makes him the top player in the Idaho this year. Long term projection makes him even more interesting with potential to develop power further, but already enough to make him an impact player at this level for a team that had a good season last year. http://www.perfectgame.org/Articles/View.aspx?article=9561
