Greg Peavey Named League Pitcher of the Week

BINGHAMTON, NY – The Eastern League announced today that Binghamton Mets starter Greg Peavey has been named the league Pitcher of the Week for the period of May 5 to May 11. The righty earned league honors for his nine-inning, complete-game shutout against the New Hampshire Fisher Cats on May 7.

Coming off his first win of the season, Peavey kept the Fisher Cats in check for his first career complete-game shutout. He allowed just two singles, struck out six, issued no walks and never allowed any runner past first base. He retired the final 13 batters he faced and needed exactly 100 pitches to complete the twelfth nine-inning two-hitter in B-Mets franchise history.

Peavey was selected by the Mets in the sixth round of the 2010 draft out of Oregon State University. He made his Double-A debut with the B-Mets in 2012 and earned his first Pitcher of the Week award in April 2012. He has gone 2-1 with a 3.16 ERA through five starts this season.
Peavey and the B-Mets (18-15) enjoy a day off on Monday before starting a three-game series against the Altoona Curve on Tuesdaynight at 6:35 PM. RHP Hansel Robles takes the mound for Binghamton. The Horizons Federal Credit Union Pregame Show begins at 6:20 PM on Newsradio 1290 WNBF.
