I'm not sure how I feel about this. I love the win and the 'come from behind' effort was amazing, bit, in truth, I'm not going to get the kind of changes on this team unless they lose around 15 of the next 20 games. The last thing the Mets need is false hope.

Enjoy the win... it's Yankee time.

They might still cause a little stir.......maybe call up Montero, move mejia to bullpen and dfa valverde.....that would be a good start.

Last year Kirk Nieuwenheis hit a pinch hit homer....to win a game..that sparked the Mets surge....until injuries derailed them.......the Mets have the pitching to sustain a good season.......Let's hope they continue to bring up the bats...and move forward.

The amazing part is, after all this shit in May, the team is only 2 games down in the loss column for a wild card berth.

So am I the only one who keeps hitting 'refresh' on the social media websites, hoping to read a report of valverde being DFA and Montero being called up?

Unlike you, Ernest, I'm hoping to read about the bigger change being made -- Backman replacing Collins to shepherd the next generation of players into contention. I know it won't happen, but a man can dream, can't he?

As far as the player moves go, just as Collins is on record saying he's leaning towards Familia being the closer, I foresee them bringing up Vic Black and DFAing Valverde as he won't start the SuperTwo clock running. They'll probably tread water with Mejia until June when they've saved a few shekels.

Mack..what do you want ?? i don't follow. We might have the worse bullpen in baseball, not sure how we win this season (hattip to Sandy), why ruin Super2 for Montero, ZERO chance with this bullpen we win this year unless our brilliant GM has elaborate plans we dont know about or we're counting JFamilia to pitch to a 2-handle era(lmao). I dont think anyone in our entire bullpen could make the staff of most teams, this is an epic failure of our GM imo. I mean i wish you were GM but, do tell, realistically what do we do from here ....

Vic Black and Jenrry Mejia in the back of the bullpen.

Well Jam, first off all, I give a rats ass about Super 2.

The last time I looked this was New York City.

If I was the GM? Ha! First, there would have to be a new owner.

There's a lot of great young pitching that's about to bubble over. Use these players effectively in your rotation, your pen, and in trades.

I have consistently said that I would begin by rebuilding the back end of the pen with Montero, Familia, and Mejia. You would be very happy with the results here.

I'd pitch Gee, Colon, Niese, Wheeler and deGrom starting next week

I'd bring Syndergaard up in June

And then... I'd shop everybody named Young at the all-star break

Realistically, I care about Super2. Wilpons care. Sandy does, you should, it matters, contracts matter!! Especially if we are going nowhere fast this season. Im glad they held Harvey for Super 2. Im glad they held Wheeler. And hopefully ill be glad they held Montero and Thor.

Like you said they are only 2 games fromm a wildcard--if their bullpen was soilid id say, do it!! Bring up Montero. If we had Parnell closing and VBlack setting up, Famailia looking real good, the scrapheeap Valvarde or Farnsworth contributing, Rice looking as good as last season, or torres or ANYONE, id say do it !! Its not happening the bullpen is HORRIBLE !! Contracts matter to build, for trades for everything so i dont dismiss super2..
2 game in middle of may = 10 games by the middle of August.
i like what isSandy doing, building farm up, solid roots ect but, is been a pretty slow process for NYC and if he put together a bullpen this off-season we could have made a run at a real exciting summer. He has failed EVERY year at putting toghether a bullpen, its unreal. He has stated publically that building a bullpen is the quickest way back to competing and he continues to fail in that category...eh, just disappointed, maybe these guys will put it togherther still..lmao Youngs comment btw ..jambar7

Jam -

you and I are not that far off from each other but the Sper 2 issue is stupid since neither of us have any financial ties to this team. I could care how much they have to spend or when they spend it.

As for the pen, I will continue to say this until my gums bleed... put Mejia, Montero, and Familia in the back end of the pen and everything you hate goes away
