Friday Night in Philadelphia, Matt Harvey was human while
Cole Hamels pitched brilliantly. The Phillies beat the Mets 3-1.
The Phils got out to a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the 1st. Freddy Galvis singled and with 2 out stole 2nd base. Then Ryan Howard dunked RBI single to shallow right to make it 1-0. The Mets tied the game in the 4th. Michael Cuddyer walked with one out, he moved to 2nd on a wild pitch by Hamels. Then with the bases loaded Cuddyer scored on Hamels 2nd wild pitch of the inning. In the bottom of the 4th Ryan Howard drove in his 2nd run with a home run to left center, his 6th on the year to make it 2-1. Ben Revere’s RBI single in the 5th capped the scoring and made it 3-1. Hamels gets the win going 7 innings allowing just 4 hits 1 run (earned) he walked 1 and struck out 8. He improves to 2-3. Harvey lasted 6 innings allowing 6 hits 3 runs (all earned) while walking 1 and striking out 4. Harvey falls to 5-1, his ERA climbs to 2.72.
Hansel Robles, Sean Gilmartin and Erik Goeddel finished up scorelessly in relief. Jonathon Papelbon pitched the 9th for this 6th save on the year. With the infield hit, Kevin Plawecki has now hit in 7 straight games as the Mets only managed 5 hits on the night.
The Mets fall to 18-11 on the year and are 5-8 on the road.
Saturday night is game two of the series. Jonathon Niese (2-2 2.40) goes for the Mets. Aaron Harang (3-2 2.35) goes for Philadelphia.

Ok I've decided to rant on this post if thats ok with everyone.................
Grandy minus the walks is just not a guy who's seriusly helping this team much, ESPECIALLY against a lefty.
Lagares looked good in field.
Mayberry is a waste of a roster spot.
Cuddyer hit singles....and.....well....singles.....
Murph is still avoiding multi-hit games like the plague....
Wilmer. .....well..... #PastAdivingFlores
Plawecki looks like a rookie (which is allowed)
Dilson can't be asked to carry the damn team in his buried 8 spot.
This team will NOT remain over .500 of they don't figure out how to group hits together.
I won't go as far as Ernest but there has to be someone on the waiver wire who hits from the left side of the plate, plays outfield, and can hit better than Nieuwenhuis.
And please don't tell me the Mets have to keep him for his glove. He never gets in the game to use it.
My rant not withstanding, here's the lineup I think can still be a playoff worthy lineup.

As for the bench, no rant needed. The stats speak for themselves in regards to their collective batting average.
There will be somebody on the waiver wire soon, if Sandy stays set in his pig-headed ways - Cesar Puello. Shame we can't see if he can hit MLB pitching before we throw him on the scrap heap, like we did with Justin Turner, who seems to be doing quite well for the Dodgers these days.
Turner simply wasn't liked by Alderson and, like Germen and Puello, you have no future on this team if the boss doesn't like you.
