May 26th 2015 -- Mets 5, Phillies 4 (10 innings)

Tuesday night at Citi Field Wilmer Flores RBI single with 2 out in the bottom of the 10th inning broke a 4 all tie, the Mets win in a walk off in 10, 5-4. The Mets started the scoring in the 3rd Lucas Duda’s RBI single scored Curtis Granderson for a 1-0 lead. Then after the Mets loaded the bases, Michael Cuddyer made it 3-0 with a two run single. deGrom was great he sailed into the top of the 8th inning allowing just 5 hits and striking out 9. But that’s when the trouble started.  Carlos Ruiz and Cesar Hernandez singled to make it 1st and 2nd with 1 out. deGrom then left the game and in came Hansel Robles.  Robles' first batter Ben Revere greeted him with a 2 run triple to make it 3-2 and closed the book on deGrom. Then Freddie Galvais singled home Revere to tie the game. Alex Torres came in and allowed a Chase Utley single which made it 1st and 3rd. Torres then struck out Ryan Howard. Carlos Torres came in and yielded a RBI single Maikel Franco and the Phillies had a 4-3 lead. In the bottom of the 8th, Duda walked and Daniel Murphy doubled to right to make it 2nd and 3rd and no out. Ken Giles struck out Michael Cuddyer in a marathon at bat. Wilmer Flores then hit a sac-fly to center to score Duda and make it 4-4.  In the 10th Juan Lagares singled, Lucas Duda walked. Lagares went to third when Murphy hit into a double play. Cuddyer walked and went to second on pitchers indifference. That brought up Flores with 2 out and he delivered the game winner on a single to left over short. deGrom went 7 1/3 allowing 6 hits 2 runs (both earned) he walked none and struck out 9. He gets the no decision.  Jeurys Familia with 2 scoreless innings in relieve nails the win he’s 1-0. Jeanmar Gomez takes the loss he falls to 0-1. The Mets managed 9 hits on the night. Cuddyer and Kevin Plawecki had 2 hits apiece.  The Mets have now beaten the Phillies in 19 of the last 24 meetings.  With the win the Mets improve to 26-21 and a terrific 19-6 at Citi Field.  With the Cubs winning they gain a full game on the Nats and are now 1 ½ games behind the 1st place Nationals. Wednesday afternoon at 1:10 pm  the Mets look for a sweep of this 3 game set. Noah Syndergaard (1-2 3.63) goes for the Mets; Sean O’Sullivan (1-3 3.54) goes for Philly.

Wilmer is getting comfortable and heating up. Even his outs were well hit today. He's 23. I like his future, and I hope it's in Queens.
