PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. (April 10, 2018) – The St. Lucie Mets rallied from behind three times and finally finished off the Tampa Tarpons with an exciting 6-5 win in 10 innings on Tuesdayat First Data Field.

Dash Winningham provided the winning run when he lifted a sac fly to left field with one out to bring home Jacob Zanon. As part of the new MiLB extra innings rule, Zanon was placed on second to start the 10th. He advanced to third on a bunt by Andres Gimenez.

Reliever Matt Blackham pitched out of jams in the ninth and 10th. In both innings the Tarpons had a runner on third base with one out, but Blackham buckled down to keep the game tied.

The Mets trailed 1-0 in the first, 4-2 after the third and 5-4 in the seventh. Each time they came back to tie.

Ian Strom and Dale Burdick had big nights at the plate. Strom blasted a home run and tripled. Burdick tripled and doubled. He scored on a wild pitch in the seventh to tie the game 5-5.

Mets starter Blake Taylor allowed three earned runs in five innings in his St. Lucie debut.

Tampa reliever Trevor Lane struck out seven straight batters at one point.

The Mets snapped a four-game losing streak.

The Mets (2-4) and Tarpons (3-3) play the third game of their series at First Data Field on Wednesday at 6:30 p.m.
