BINGHAMTON, NY – Binghamton scored six runs in the sixth inning Sunday afternoon at NYSEG Stadium, taking the rubber game against Harrisburg 7-2. The Spiedies win marks the second time Binghamton has taken two of three from Harrisburg, ending their regular-season series four games to two.
Trailing 2-1, the Spiedies sent 12 batters to the plate in the sixth inning, scoring their six runs on three hits and four walks. Facing Sterling Sharp, Andres Gimenez led off the inning with a double, before Levi Michael walked. A Joey Terdoslavich hard-hit single pushed each runner ahead one base, loading them for Tomas Nido. Binghamton’s catcher hit a chopper to the shortstop Carter Kieboom, whose throw home was low and underneath the catcher’s glove. The throwing error allowed two runners to score, giving Binghamton their first lead of the game. After Sharp was replaced by Bryan Harper, Jhoan Urena continued the rally with a two run single, pushing the lead to 5-2. Harper issued back-to-back walks to John Mora and David Roseboom, before whiffing Michael for the second out. The reliever then plunked Gimenez and walked Toffey, bringing home two more Spiedies to make it 7-2. Dakota Bacus was summoned to record the final out of the inning, a Terdoslavich strikeout.
Sharp (3-2) totaled five innings in the losing effort, allowing five earned runs. He struck out one and walked three.
Spiedies starter Kevin McGowan also lasted five innings, but limited the Senators to just one run. He gave up three two-out hits in the second inning, including an RBI single from Drew Ward. In his third appearance with Binghamton, the right-hander struck out six and walked one.
David Roseboom (3-2) was first to relieve McGowan and coughed up a run-scoring single to Dan Gamache in the sixth inning. The lefty held the Senators in check otherwise, tossing two innings with two strikeouts in the win.
Joe Zanghi and Stephen Nogosek combined to preserve Binghamton’s 7-2 lead, pitching the eighth and ninth innings scoreless.

Another angle
Anyone old enough (or sober enough) here to remember Shea Stadium?
Remember the plexiglass (behind home plate) window from which the NY television station WOR Channel 9 would broadcast the games? It was probably fifty or so feet from home plate.
Okay. We're getting somewhere.
Those behind the batter and catcher camera shots are very few and far between now, because now the stadiums have fans sitting where once there was this TV camera.
To lend another angle of interest to the TV broadcast, why not have SNY (and really all other baseball stations)attach a small camera to the helmet or mask of the home plate umpire? Then, the game's producer could decide when to turn that camera behind home plate on.
To me, this behind home plate camera angle was one of the most exciting camera angles being used to telecast the games. It made us all feel like we were there, seeing the pitch come in (WOR Channel 9.)
This new Allan Jackson CF guy is pretty dam good. And I hear, quite the water skier too!

On Mark Vientos
The kid has promise. But so does newly acquired 23 year old Will Toffey. He's hitting .321 BA at Binghamton. Was two for four last night. Doesn't have small feet.
Will Toffey isn't a true homerun hitter yet, but he is 23 years old. Give the man time. I didn't get muscles until I was 35 years old and dating a very large woman. I had to in other words.
But unlike Mark Vientos, say Will Toffey came up to the NY Mets first and became a star third baseman here. I was thinking that maybe then Jerry Seinfeld (one of us but admittedly with sort of funny shaped head) could have him on his television show and call it "Taking Toffey for Coffee in One of My Really Old Cars."
So what I am saying here is simply this, leave the Mets third base door open for "Coffee with Toffey" okay?
And Jerry, if you are ever going to bring back your "Seinfeld Show" and get everyone out of prison finally, do it soon may be good advice. They have poor "George" on Match Game now. I saw it last night and poor "George" looked like he was ready to gnaw off his hands and feet for goodness sakes! There was hate in his eyes. "George" has to be rescued Jerry, and soon!
Toffey may turn out to really be something in 2019. he's done well so far.
Early start games could be Toffey and Donuts.
