read an interesting quote on Twitter from Buster Olney/ESPN.
It was about Jacob deGrom:

This
is an example of how dominate Jake has been this year.

He allowed 3 runs in 8 starts

Does
it really matter how many runs the Mets hitters scored when he was pitching? A
Cy Young winner is supposed to go to the pitcher that most dominated batters in
their league in a particular season.
No
one should even get a 1st
place vote for this, other than our Jake.

My take is that the
Mets should stay in the house and name, under the above circumstances, Nelson
Figueroa. Figgy has proven to be, what
I call, a homer/critic. Yes, he knows who pays his paycheck but he’s not afraid
to say something he thinks is wrong if he truly feels it.

and current Reds RHP Matt Harvey is set to
become a free agent at the end of the season. And after what was scheduled to
be his penultimate start of the season, he gave a glimpse of what team he could
play for in 2019.

only one team out there I would not sign with," Harvey said, according to
The Athletic's C. Trent Rosecrans. "That's
about it."
Harvey, whom
the Mets traded to Cincinnati in May, did not specifically say which team he
was alluding to.

released this past week:

Robby Kidwell – The 20/yr. old was a 36th
round pick in 2017, out of Brunswick Community College. Robby batted only .172
in 64 at bats in 2017 for the GCL Mets and hit a combined .121 this past season
for both the GCL team and Kingsport.
C
Domingo Martinez – The 23/yr. old came out of
the Dominican system. He played four seasons in the Mets system and hit a
respectful (for a backup catcher) .245 in 147 at bats this past season for
K-Port. I find this one a surprise because every minor league team needs three
catchers and it’s hard to find a backup that hits this well.

If I was Matt Harvey, I would feel the same way.
The David Wright moment was great I just wish he would have gotten up for one more at bat.
I can't believe that Marlin first baseman didn't let that ball drop near the seats.
Matt get over yourself who would want to sign you. Narcissist: an excessive need for admiration, disregard for other's feelings, an inability to handle criticism and a sense of entitlement pretty much sums it up. Obviously none of D Wright's class rubbed off on him. Harvey and Boras are a perfect match and the poster boys for what makes it hard to follow sports these days.

Jake should be the unanimous Cy Young award winner, IMO. It is silly to even consider the other two contenders, not that they had bad seasons, or anything. Jake has simply been better and it isn't particularly close (as Buster stated).
David's last night was handled very well by everyone, to include the organization. They get a lot of crap (rightfully so), but last night was one of the times when they got it right. What sucks (to me) is that David was pretty much robbed of the last third of his career. If he played anywhere close to his career averages during his absence, he would have phenomenal numbers and we would be talking about a potential Hall of Fame inductee some day. I HOPE the Mets are smart enough to keep him around the team in a different capacity......they can use a does of class and professionalism.
On the other end of the spectrum is the so called "Dark Knight". What a classless, egotistical jack ass! Diss on the team that drafted you, gave you the chance to develop and a stage to earn a living, etc. You got paid more for NOT pitching then you did for your time on the mound. Injuries (not your fault) and acting like a dick (definitely your fault) are the culprits here, so take some responsibility, Matt! By the way, I am pretty sure you are the one pitcher the team would not want to sign in the off season, so we agree on that point (ranting over).
Lastly, a lot of "bloodletting" in the minors of late.....it will be interesting to see who gets promoted, etc.
Well, if no team wants him as a pitcher, I guess those same qualities make him just as qualified for the presidency as the current seat holder
Lost in all of the David Wright hoopla are the details about what happens to the remaining 2 years and megabucks he's due on his contract. If he officially retires, he forfeits it. Have the Mets made some kind of payout offer to encourage retirement?

The minor league blood letting continues... I have two moreposts coming up with more with names already released by MiLB.com.
This is the normal time of the year this is done. It just seems like a lot this year but, when I begin my off season projections by position, you will see we still have plenty of fodder left in the tank.
The one thing you are seeing is the releasing of college juniors and senior pitchers when they hit around 25-26 years old. My wishes in the past to draft college junior starters seem to be wrong in today's game.
Get your starters out of either high school or the Latin system. They are younger and can spend far longer in the organization to bloom.
Mack.......the tributes that I have watched (last night and this morning) were all well done and quite positive. It is almost weird that a media story in this day and age does not have a negative vibe or angle in some way.
DW did things the "right way" (pun intended)......we could use more of that, IMO.
Reese, time will tell of the remaining contract payment arrangements, but the team made a ton of bucks last night and Friday, and gave fans a great memory, the type that can make someone remain a fan when the crosstown team is smashing HR records and heading to the offseason tournament again.
