My brain goes where my brain goes, so I decided to look SELECTIVELY at results-kinds-of-things I thought to be notable at this point in the spring:
(through Wednesday's games)
TEAM OFFENSE:
The Mets sit at 16th in hitting (.258) and 24th in runs (119, or 4.76 per game) in 25 games.
The Nats? .277 and 150 runs in 25 games.
The Phillies? .247 and 123 runs in 26 games.
The Yanks? .277 and 152 runs in 26 games.
Who scored the most per game? Surprisingly the Kansas City Royals, with 174 runs in 27 games (6.44 per game).
Homers? The Mets have had 29 (tied for 18th), while the Yanks have hit 45 and Minnesota has surprisingly hit 44.
WIN LOSS RECORD?
Yanks are best at 15-7, while the Mets are at 9-15.
Nats? 15-10. Phils? 11-12
PITCHING:
Mets' ERA 25th at 5.33, mostly due to a lot of the on-the fringes pitchers pitching less than marginally. The core guys, especially Jake, Thor, and Zach, have thankfully done well.
Yanks? 3.89.
Nats? 4.70.
Phils? 4.84.
Best? Astros at 3.63, not unexpectedly, and LAD at 3.89.
BOTTOM LINE:
The Mets are not competing against the Yanks directly, but the Bombers have had a much better spring. I think the Mets' bad spring, thankfully, is almost entirely attributable to a lot of poor results from pitchers and hitters who won't make the team.

BEST SPRING HITTERS:
Pete Alonso is 5th best in average (.360) and 3rd best in slugging % (.680) amongst "qualifying" hitters.
Best 2 overall qualifying hitters?
Rockies 1B McMahon at .440/.482/.800 and Miami 3B Anderson at .400/.500/.725. Of course, non-qualifier (barely) Robbie Cano stunned the ball at .475/.512/.700
Aaron Judge leads in homers (6) in 34 at bats. Anyone surprised?
BEST SPRING PITCHERS:
Former Met and current Yank Luis Cessa overall has been baseball's best! Go figure. See below.
Miami's Pablo Lopez, a 23 year old righty, is 3-0, 0.90 in 20 innings with just 10 hits, 1 walk and 16 Ks. Interesting.
Not the next best, but Division rival Stephen Strasburg has gone 3-0, 2.87, with 19 Ks in 15.2 IP.
FORMER METS:
Doing, as one might expect, surprisingly well - mostly.
I did not see Anthony Swarzak in Seattle's stats, and thus assume he is injured. Again.
Matt Harvey - 8.2 innings, 7.27 ERA. Hitters' Door Matt.
Jay Bruce hit very well in the pre-season. But his season has already started, so let's see how that goes.

Wilmer Flores is a scintillating 13 for 29 with 4 doubles, a HR, and 8 ribbies (.438/.513/.656)
Luis Cessa is doing his best Severino imitation with the Yanks: 17 IP, 9 H, 1 R, 1 BB, 18 K. Wow.
Jenrry Mejia - 7 innings, 6 hits, 4 runs, 2 BB, 9 K. JENRRY!
Gerson Bautista - 4.1 IP, 2 H, 1 R, 4 BB, 3 K
Justin Dunn - 8 IP, 8 H, 4 R, 3 HR, 3 BB, 9 K
Jarred Kelenic - barely got in a few games, so not much to say.

Can Wilmer be Jeff Kent II? We'll find out.
Wilmer leaving is one of BVW's first mistakes.
Both Swarzak and Bautista are currently injured for the Mariners. This year's Swarzak -- Justin Wilson -- is healthy but pitching like he's injured.
So glad to see Wilmer doing well. I will always have a soft spot in my heart for that kid. Too bad the Mets wanted to play him out of position. He is a passable 1B, 2B.
Anyone knows what the decision by the Mets on Mesoraca was? I can't find anything on it.
"Unknown", I don' think a decision on Mesoraco will formally be made until after d'Arnaud plays today. My guess is TDA to DL and Meso is on 25 man roster going north.
Without seeing TDA play, seems prudent to go slower given the TJ Rivera problem with his TJ surgery.

Jerry Blevins? 3 innings for Oakland, 8 runs allowed. Ugly. Those who were sad to see Jerry go may feel batter now.
