METS ANNOUNCE OPENING DAY ROSTER
FLUSHING, N.Y., March 28, 2019 – The New York Mets announced the following roster moves today.
· Selected the contracts of infielder Pete Alonso and LHP Luis Avilán.
· Recalled RHP Tim Peterson.
· Placed outfielder Yoenis Céspedes on the 10-Day Injured List, retroactive to March 25, as he recovers from left and right heel surgery, placed catcher Travis d’Arnaud on the 10-Day Injured List, retroactive to March 25, as he recovers from Tommy John surgery, placed infielder Todd Frazier on the 10-Day Injured List, retroactive to March 25, with a left oblique strain, placed infielder Jed Lowrie on the 10-Day Injured List, retroactive to March 25, with a left knee capsule sprain and placed RHP Drew Smith on the 10-Day Injured List, retroactive to March 25, as he recovers from Tommy John surgery.

Ummm...isn't the 60-day IL/DL suitable for Smith and Cespedes? Does anyone really think either will be back within 2 months? That would free up two roster spots.
It could be changed down the road, no?
Why back to March 25?
And what is the new IL period?
No more DL List.
