I wonder if Mauricio is learning to play OF, which is a more open position on the Mets, given the presence of Cano and Baez (if re-signed) on the current roster and Baty/Vientos on the rise.

I believe that Mauricio has more speed than any of the above, and he could be our future CFer if he has the instincts for it.

Mauricio has looked good running down long pops as well - and no - he has not spent anytime learning the outfield. When I interviewed the Brooklyn Manager last Summer he insisted that "Ronny is a Shortstop". That is despite the fact that he made 22 errots last year at SS (and one Wednesday in the Dominican). Plus he is extremely tall for a SS. If not CF, they should move him to LF or RF.

Goes back to the craziness of signing Baez for the next 6 years for $150M+. They have infielders - they need outfielders and pitching - so lets invest in infielders. Nuts

I see Cano for 2 years at MOST, giving time to promote Baty/Vientos.

After the trade for Baez, both Javy and Lindor seemed to feed off playing together. Once the kids are ready, we can ease the IF surplus by trading McNeil and/or Smith.

But before looking that far ahead, let's see how the decisions of this Winter turn out.
