Ahh, 2015. Those were the days, my friends, we thought they'd never end, we'd sing and dance, forever and a day.
Well, they did end - sorry to have to break that to you.
If you can't actually have your team in the World Series, which for the Mets is almost always the case, why not see which ex-Mets are on either current WS team and root for one of those team's ex-Mets to beat the other team's ex-Mets?
Houston has Blake Taylor, who never actually pitched for the Mets but was in the system for years before he was dealt to the Astros. He had a really good 2019 season in the minors, and I was looking forward to him being in a Mets uniform, but...off he went.
In 2020, Taylor made his MLB debut, throwing 21 innings and ending up 2-1, 2.08.
In 2021, Taylor's use was expanded, and threw 43 innings, going 4-4, 3.16.
Regular season - career? 6-5, 2.84 in 73 outings.
Shoulda kept Mr. Taylor.
Yeah, but the playoffs are different, right? Wrong.
In 2020 and 2021, 8.1 innings, 1 run, 1.08, 1-0 record.
Shoulda kept Taylor.
Mets traded him for Jake Marisnick. They also included Kenedy Corona, a young OF who hit .244 in A ball in 2021, and in 420 minor league ABs, is a .274 lifetime hitter with 38 steals.
Add one more steal. It was a steal for the Astros, all right.
THE BRAVES?
They got Travis d'Arnaud, who still can't throw out base stealers (only 8 of 58 gunned down in 2020 and 2021, most of the ones caught filing slip-and-fall claims afterwards).
And he hit only .220 in 209 at bats this season.
But, as an ex-Met, in 702 at bats from 2019-21, 127 RBIs. 127.
Hot dog, that's a lot of RBIs, ain't it? Ask almost any Mets hitter in 2021, and they'd sure wish they had those RBI numbers.
Tomas Nido, for sure, who in 407 Mets career ABs, has just 45 RBIs.
As an ex-Met in post season?
d'Arnaud was in 3 straight post-seasons, going 20 for 92, about .220, which isn't great. But not awful for a back up.
Oddly, the only other (barely playing with the Mets) ex-Met, Gil Heredia, only hit .220 this year, just like Travis.
All said, I am pulling for the Astros and Blake Taylor over the Braves, with the twin .220 hitters.
How about you? I think the Astros will take those garbage can lids off and then kick the Braves' can. And Blake Taylor will have a good series.
Anyway, game 1 last night:
d'Arnaud singled and scored in the Braves win, Heredia was a defensive late game insert, and Taylor sat for the night. No reason to waste Taylor in a game Houston trailed almost the entire time. This just in: Houston will not sweep.
Have a good day.

While I like Freeman & Albies, I hate Atlanta, hate their fans, hate their annoying tomahawk chops, and hate their dumb-ass Indian chant...I won't watch any further games from Atlanta. I fact, I was forced to fly to Atlanta once to make a speech, and hate the entire state of Georgia.
On the Houston A**holes, I like Altuve, but I hated the cheating scandal and despise horse crap Minute Maid Park, which is worse than the crap Astrodome and the invention of astroturf. The place is full of cheap-ass gimmicks starting with an attempted rip-off of the green monster in LF (Houston's home of the cheap HR...like Philly LF).
Next comes the stupid LCF alcoves with their chain-link fencing (NO ballpark should have ANY chain-link fencing...players have been badly injured getting their spikes caught in chain-link fencing.)
And lastly, remember the laughable hill and flagpole in straight away CF (Beltran made a great catch running up that stupid hill back in the day. Those were finally removed under extreme ridicule as...a stupid gimmick!
This is a WS with nobody to root for.
Nickel just to be transparent, all I watched from game 1 was the post-game box score.
I hear you.
Let's fix our team and get them into the WS next year
On this date 35 years ago, the Mets won their last World Series championship. It's tough to watch anyone else in the World Series when it has been 35 years since our last win, and 21 years since our last game in a world series.
That said, it is baseball so yes I am watching. I also despise the Atlanta fans' chants, but overcoming that I would like to see the Braves win to achieve some level of NL East success. In the pre-season this year many prognosticators said the NL East was going to be the dominant division. That didn't happen, but a WS championship for Atlanta still makes a case for a competitive division, which is an intangible for players choosing amongst free agency offers.
Go Braves! I don't know why.
Hey why aren't they just The Atlanta Baseball team? Braves Redskins what's the difference if I may ask?
