OK, maybe they’ll update their list soon, but the following guy did the following but is not in the Mets’ vaunted Top 30 list.
This particular guy is not known for power but popped 9 jacks in 337 at bats. He also had 22 doubles and 4 triples. Very solid.
He hit .285, with a very fine 63 runs and 47 RBIs in just 84 games. His .294 in AA was the 4th highest in that league.
He stole 14 bases, and is 31 of 43 in his career in 137 games.
He’s fanned “just” 99 times in those 137 career games.
He’s made just 3 outfield errors in his pro career so far.
After a slow season start, he hit .419 in 22 August games in AA.
He had 383 hits and hit .357 in college.
Who? Most of you probably guessed who it is…
yep, 2019 Mets’ 4th rounder JAKE MANGUM (pictured above in his collegiate days).
I have to ask…Is it REALLY that hard to update the list sooner? Mangum and other fine players bust their behinds, do well, and…”don’t worry, we’ll get around to it at some point.”
He has performed SO MUCH BETTER than some guys still included in the Top 30.
I would not at all be surprised to see him on the Mets sometime in 2022.
But not in the Top 30. Bad job, people.
Back when he was drafted, Mack had the following write up from “Mississippi Today”:
If I ran a Major League team’s front office, I’d draft Jake Mangum early and pay him what it takes to sign him.
Sounds like Top 30 to me. If not to the person in charge of the Mets’ site Top 30.

When he becomes a star, I want him to start a Man Gum company. Chew on that for a while.
The outfield is wide open for him.
I wouldn't be surprised to see the Mets trade Brandon Nimmo coming off a good year. The others mentioned as trade chips are not coming off solid production or are plagued with injury.
I haven't known what to think of Mangum but he showed up in AA and in a few months equaled his 4 year college career HR total. Maybe hes a version of a McNeil who found something new to bring out some pop and maintain other strengths going forward.
Ernest, Mangum pleasantly surprised me. May he continue to do so in 2022 at higher levels.
Mack, right now, it is wide open, but I want Vientos and Lee to get first dibs.
Reese, unless they think Khalil Lee and his .450 AAA OBP is truly ready, not sure how you can afford to lose Nimmo’s on base knack.
The dilemma the Mets face is that they have 4 "super prospects" in Vientos, Baty, Mauricio and Alvarez, all of whom have ETAs of 2 years (or less), plus Lee and Mangum.
Bringing in expensive FAs would mean locking them in for at least 4 years, blocking the paths of all of the prospects except Alvarez.
So do we try to "ride out" the next 2 years with what we've got plus some mid-level FAs on 1- or 2-year contracts, or go for the Kris Bryant, Javy Baez et al types and then look to make trades of others when the kids are ready?
I'd like to re-sign 4to and Baez and give McNeil, Smith and JD another season to increase their market value.

On another Mets website someone brought up the idea that Cohen, with his prodigious wealth should sign a couple free agents this year on two year contracts for outrageous money i.e Baez 2/60. They will sign for the big paycheck but you're not locked in for years and if they stink its only for two years and if they excel you can sign them again on another two year deal. that way you aren't blocking the "kids" but don't have to play mediocre baseball while you're waiting for said "kids" to mature. just thought it was an interesting take

Baty probably will need 2022 in MiLB. See him up then 2023 most likely, or late 2022 after Jake or Noah get hurt and the Mets fade like a shooting star again in August. It's a tradition you know.
Reasoning behind these three rooks and 5 vets.
I think Vientos, Lee or Mangum (or both make it on the 2022 roster with one starting and then one off the bench as the fourth outfielder. And finally, Francisco Alvarez because look, you go out and trade for some other teams number one catcher and you lose someone good to them from here. Then you have to tie that new really good catcher up with a large contract and maybe a few years. This is a stupid move because Francisco is then blocked like Mauricio is now behind three mores years of Mr. Excuses on shortstop.
So you bring up Francisco Alvarez at ST and let him dig in behind the Mets dish and get ready. It sounds like if anyone could do this, it would be Francisco Alvarez. All the scouts rave about him.

The five vets, I forgot.
1. Cano - I think he's not retiring but I cano remember. I liked his PED's season. His eyes looked white to me, on television anyway. But he had a really good offensive season then. How much better would Baez be? I then back up Cano with Cortes.
2. Nimmo. Once all his body parts worked and he got back to the team from IR, I thought he was the same excellent player he always was really. I told you all this years ago that he would be. His defense improved too in 2021.
3. JD Davis. Most maligned player on this team since Greg Jeffries I think. He does not care, it does snot offend him. This gut is a warrior. We all need to shut up and let JDD finish healing up. He'll prove his critics wrong, you'll see. The squirrel leaves to taller trees elsewhere.
4. Pete Alonso. Pete is Pete. You could put him on the moon and he would still blast homeruns.
5. Francisco Lindor. He got homesick I heard here, missed the beautiful skyline in Cleveland Rocks. His translator said that he will try much harder next season.
Please no JD in 2022.
Unknown, I would love to see the Mets sign guys to very expensive two year contracts, so that we can have wide open lanes for the young talent that is closing in on the majors. Heck, I'd give Baez one year, $35 million, with a team option. Why? I think by the end of 2022, Vientos will definitely be ready, probably Baty as well, and maybe Alvarez. Mauricio perhaps mid-2023 or sooner.
Of course, the concern is always, will they hit the ground running once they get to the big leagues. Khalil Lee sure wasn't ready last spring.

I totally agree about the need for names. Since actual names are not needed, anonymity is guaeanteed.
