Breaking News - Mets Hire Buck Showalter as Manager

 

Per a Tweet from Owner Steve Cohen, the New York Mets have hired Buck Showalter to be their 23'rd Manager.  Buck replaces Luis Rojas after Luis was let go following a 77-85 2021 campaign.

Buck, 65 years old - turning 66 in May of 2022 has agreed to a three year deal (per Jon Heyman).

In his 20 year Major League managerial career, Buck has a 1551-1517 won loss record, with three 1st place finishes, and three Manager of the Year Awards.

Good hire…….seems like the team needs the veteran managerial experience.

Now, who will fill out the coaching staff, outside of Hefner, of course.

Actually was hoping for Espada, but can't argue with this choice.

Maybe Joe E. as bench coach & manager-in-waiting after a 3-yrs retirement blitz be Buck?
