Bill. Lots of speculation - no definitive reason. He may just have needed a break before Spring.
Some said there was confusion if players on the 40 man could play in winter ball but clearly they can as Santos is pitching.
Also meant to add that Cano is close to returning. Maybe as soon as next week.

Cano is interesting, and probably even more amusing. He wants to get permission from the Mets to return to winter ball but teams are not dealing with MLBPA players. So…. Did Cano ask for permission to play? Probably, to be on his best behavior, but can he get it now?
