SNY.TV: Sandy Alderson explains why Mets picked Jared Porter as GM, details new power structure. “'He really has the vision that we want to execute upon'. ‘I think it's a flexible arrangement,’ Alderson said. ‘For example, I've already turned a couple of things over to Jared. We have a daily baseball operations meeting. I've been on every one of those meetings. I'm not sure I need to be on every one of those meetings. And there are lots of things that can be decided by Jared that don't have to involve me or only involve me briefly.’”

After inking Curtis Granderson to a four-year, $60 million
contract earlier in the week, the Mets sign Bartolo Colon to a two-year, $20
million free-agent pact. The 40 year-old All-Star right-handed starter, who
is slated to replace the innings the team will need as Matt Harvey recovers
from Tommy John surgery, compiled an 18-6 record with a 2.65 ERA in 30 starts

Unless we bring back Tovar to a minor league deal today - I predict no big free agent signings today.
