Wilfredo Tovar is suddenly cooled off at the dish. I am SHOCKED :)
I assume that is Juan Marichal in the pictures with Pedro - for being nearly 85, he looks real good
Marichal was 26-8, 2.13 ERA in 342 innings vs, the Mets. Koufax was 17-2, 1.44 in 162 innings.
Besides those two dominators, the early Mets were ... still terrible. Just not quite as terrible when you remove that 43-10.
Marichal won 76 or 77 games in his 3 best seasons, and ended up with no Cy Youngs. Jake won 21 over 2 seasons and won 2. Timing is everything.
Still pretty good for Tovar .368 is not bad.
