Mack, given all the Mets' future needs, if the draft was today, which 2B would you draft, and around what round, if you've thought that far yet?
Good question
I know you shouldn't draft early by position but it is going to be hard for me to concentrate on the infield for the first 3 picks.
That would mean Termarr and Robert Moore will be long gone, as well as 3B/2B Jace Jung.
So.
I would probably draft Joe Lampe on Day 2. Solid in the field as well as one of the best defensive center fielders in the draft.
Lampe is a very driven guy. Maybe so.
Look.
If I was running that room, I would concentrate on finding one decent outfielder and 2 great starters.
There just isn't enough depth in rotation pitchers.
I danced around my man cave when the name Kumar Rocker was shouted out and I am still sick with that outcome.
We also drafted around 8 other starters but the jury is out on them.
Past Ginn and Allan are nothing but question marks.
Remember.
Just being a great college or high school starter means you will excel in the majors.
Just ask guys named Peterson, Dunn, or Kay
Mack, with an aging Scherzer and deGrom, and Diaz a free agent candidate not too far off, they need 3 things, pitching, pitching, and REAL pitching. Rocker was a surprise, then a huge disappointment.
