Background:

Harol Gonzalez. Starting Pitcher, Bats Both, Throws Right, 6'0", DOB 3/2/1995, Originally signed by the New York Mets as an International free agent on March 26, 2014.

After spending 7 years in the Minors with the Mets, Harol re-signed with them before the 2021 season as a minor league free agent with an invite to Spring Training.  He even started one of the Games for the "A" squad - throwing a no run, no hit inning with 1 K.  It looked like finally that Harol was going to get his chance to pitch in the Major Leagues at some point last year.

Then, injury.  Harol underwent Tommy John Surgery (TJS) in early May 2021, and, after having lost the entire 2020 season due to COVID, lost the 2021 season as well.

Now, he has once again signed a minor league free agent deal with the Mets.  Let's hope 2022 is the year that Harol finally makes it to New York City.

In 2019 Harol pitched in Binghamton and Syracuse.

For the Double A Rumble Ponies, he went 6-4 with a 3.14 ERA in 17 games.  This included a combined a no hitter with Ryder Ryan in May 2019.

When he was called up to the Syracuse Mets, Harol was one their best pitchers going 6-0 with a 2.68 ERA in 8 games.

This was after a tough 2018 season, Harol pitched in St. Lucie, Las Vegas and Binghamton in 2018 but his 2018 Binghamton stats were most glaring as he went 0-9 in nine starts with a 7.79 ERA.

Harol will be one to watch next year as he comes back from TJS, tries to get back to his success with Syracuse in 2019, and perhaps make it to Citi Field.

If he can get back to 95-96 by mid-2022, Harol could soon be in the mix.

Hope he can do it. Still, Syracuse will have a much better team this year.
