Good morning.
I have retired from Mack's Mets.
Everybody has to some day. The alternative is to pass like my old friend and nemesis, Joe D from Metsmerized.
I hope the site goes on. Hell, Ford survived without Henry, Perdue Chickens without Frank, and Carvel Ice Cream without Tom.
Who knows. Maybe I will stop by and guest post once something happens positive enough to write about. I already am thinking of writing my thoughts on what the Mets accomplished during the trading period that ends August 1st.
I want to thank all the writers I have worked with here. From David Rubin to David Jacks and all the non-Davids in between.
I also want to thank the two that have stuck with me... or been stuck with me... the longest... Reese Kaplan and Tom Brennan.
I additionally want to thank John From Albany and Paul Articulates who have helped me administrate this site.
A big thanks also goes out to the Mets affiliate people I have worked with for almost two decades. The daily press releases they send me have made my writing life much easy.
Lastly, I send love out to all the readers... Gary, Eddie, Gus, Zozo, and so many more. Even that anonymous guy. I love ya all.
Pushing 80 and writing an occasional post is one thing.
Pushing 80 and having to administrate and write a daily post at the same time me and my family have gone though six cancer operations... well...
It's time.

It has been an honor to work with you, Mack. You’ve literally posted thousands of articles with millions of words and far more thoughts. You are a fine man. It would have been nice to have a WorldSeries win to go out with in a blaze of glory. Instead, the Mets are burning the house down, with yet another attempt to rebuild. But winning a lot would get boring.
To be 100% clear, I would never have been writing about the Mets if it weren’t for this website and you.

Several years ago I was commenting on various Mets boards about the problems with the ballclub when Mach approached me about writing an article.
Many years and well over 100,000 words later this one-time commitment turned into a four-time weekly column which is easy to write once the topic du jour finally browbeats its way into my brain. Occasionally like many teams we have had some ups and downs, but always it was a uniform sentiment that it is the content that triumphs over everything else.
Mack has been an informative and professional mentor to me (and to others who work the site). Recognizing when you've hit the tail end of the working road is never easy to acknowledge and it can be a difficult transition. I have full faith Mack will triumph over both and enjoy the rest of his life without the worries of who Billy Eppler failed to trade equitably or which prospect isn't getting promoted when playing at a level superior to the would-be starters on the big club.
Whatever occasional contributions Mack feels he would like to make are most welcome as it was, is and always will be his website.

I have only commented here only occasionally and most of those were for my grandson. However, I have been an avid reader and here was one of the first sites that I directed my grandson.
Mack, your words have always been very incite full and interesting. You will be greatly missed.
Hopefully, we will read an occasional article and many comments. The best to you and your wife.

Thank you for making our mornings better because you let us all live in our Mets world (Good or bad) because we all got to forget about our grownup problems for a bit. Basically making us feel like the kids that we once were when the first thing I would do was go to sports pages and read up on our Metsies, Boxscores from previous night and memorizing the players stats.
Always praying for you and the family Mack. Thank You for all you have done.

Have read you for years. You were always an insightful and interesting read. You will be missed.
The Best Met Site EVER! Mack only the best to you and your lovely wife and I still remember meeting you both for lunch off I-95 a few years ago when we were heading home from N.C. from vacation. I will miss you but understand as I'm 76 but I am determined to live to see another WS championship so I guess I better be ready to live at least to 100 yikes LOL.

Thanks for all the blood sweat and tears put into this site that enhanced the lives of others, including mine. Though our paths will likely never cross, the internet is the next closest thing to radio, connecting people from afar. I hope the site goes on, and I hope to see you weighing in for many years to come. All the best to you and your family.
Also, a big thanks to Mr. Brennan and Mr. Kaplan, stalwarts through the years, producing wonderful content as well to make it enjoyable to be a Mets fan regardless of the pains of sufferable seasons.

Well Mack, I'm going to miss you. It was your inspiration that made me an occasional writer for this site. We had some fun tit for tats over the years. All I can say now is a enjoy your well deserved retirement and best wishes to you and Mrs Mack.

Thank you Mack for many many years of great Mets content. You have created a unique perspective on this team by focusing so much energy on the prospects. The new, retooled Mets will always carry a bit of Mack with them in their quest for a title. For now, the title "retired" is a badge of honor for one of the great ones. Enjoy some time off, Mack - you have earned it!
