Morning.
Michael Baron (@michaelgbaron):
As far as the #Mets pitching In general goes, yeah it has flat out stunk, but it's also been poorly managed, poorly strategized, and the bullpen has obviously been poorly constructed.
That's a front office thing. They built it.

COLIN HOUCK (NO. 32/METS)
Houck sliding this far was not on my bingo card, especially given we had him mocked to the Diamondbacks at 12. Houck’s upside is tremendous and he’s incredibly athletic. It’s a very solid swing from the right side and with the projectable nature of his frame, the power potential is quite high. There’s also enough to suggest that he sticks at shortstop long term with his twitch, range, and arm strength. The Mets may have gotten a legitimate steal with their first pick here.

"I did grow up a Braves fan, but with the Mets pick of me that's obviously not the case anymore. I'm going to be rooting for the Mets and that's how it is now"

Weird pick.
Colin Houck himself looks very good, but I don't know if its something we need. We have Ronny Mauricio in the Minors and Lindor tied up for the next 10 years, would have preferred if we took a pitcher. Really have lacked good young pitching in recent years.

Mack,
The Mets 10th pick, Nick Lorusso,3rd base, Maryland, looks good. Stats look at if he may have been under the radar and a possible steal. Am I missing something here?
Daiverson Gutierrez needed that 4 for 4 very badly. Maybe the real DG shows up now.
Hopefully our best men selected turn out strong.
Logic says yes. But Atlanta passed on hometown kid Houck.
Why was Sproat’s season ERA in the mid 4’s?
Tom,
This draft will be questioned until we see some positive results on the field when these prospects are playing in the minors.
I hope to see the Mets not only choose some skilled players in day three, but to also sign them. There are some excellent young pitchers available today if we can only get them under budget and signed.
D J, we can hope. I Havea critical factual article scheduled for next Tuesday. Keep an eye out for it.
Tom here…I look over this pitchers’ college stats…the word WOW was not uttered. High ERAs.
Mack, amazingly, my brother lives a few blocks away from Knoth, who was picked just after Houck at # 33. My brother said, and I don’t know if his faces were precise, “this kid (Knoth) is scary. He allowed 5 singles his whole senior year”
As you know, we locally drafted Matz and Kay from my old Suffolk neighborhood HS, and Justin Dunn from Stroman’s old neighborhood in Freeport. All 3 were sub par, perhaps feeling the pressure of being the hometown hero.
Maybe they picked Houck over Knoth regardless of geography, or maybe they liked Knoth but were leery of a four-peat.
Facts, not faces. This autocorrect stinks.
