He is from Frankfort Illinois and attended Lincoln Way East High School. He had an outstanding junior season going 7-3 with an ERA of 1.30 as he earned all-conference and all-area honors. He was even better as a sophomore with a 12-0 record with a 1.10 ERA. He made an immediate impact for Central Michigan in 2010 as he appeared in 20 games (two starts) with a perfect 7-0 record while having an ERA of 2.12. He was even better in MAC play going 4-0 while posting a 1.23 ERA. He ended up pitching a total of 59.1 innings while striking out 64 batters and walking 27 batters. He held opponents to a .168 batting average against. He won multiple awards including being named MAC Freshman of the Year and tabbed first-team All-MAC. Shon Carson:

In the article, Law gave a scouting report on him saying “Murray’s a pure reliever who worked at 91 to 93 mph with some life up in the zone and a short slider at 82 to 83 that was extremely sharp
Javier Baez:

Exceedingly smooth and athletic, Baez has already been ranked #2 among the nation’s best middle infielders and #3 among catchers. Nevertheless, the hot corner may be his most natural position. Baez projects as a high-average hitter more than a slugger, but could certainly develop power down the road. It’s his defensive prowess and athleticism that stands out above power, Baez has gold glove potential at the hot corner with his very quick hands and plus range.
Bryan Brickhouse

His first pitch was a 92 mph fastball with that pitch ranging from 88-92 in his inning of work, and his heater gets solid movement when it is thrown in the upper-80s. He also throws both a curveball (upper-70s) and a slider (low-80s) which are basically the thrown pitch just thrown a little differently depending if he wants to drop it in the zone or get batters fishing in the dirt. He appeared to be rubbing his left (non-throwing) elbow in between pitches, but I hadn’t heard if anything was wrong.
