Zack Grienke:
ESPN's Buster Olney reports that the Royals will "listen to any and all offers" for Zack Greinke this offseason.
The Royals have a nice stable of prospects on the way, but Greinke will likely become a free agent before their impact is truly felt. The reigning AL Cy Young winner has two years and $27 million left on his contract. He's coming off a disappointing year, but Greinke would become easily the best available pitcher on the market other than looming free agent Cliff Lee. Oct. 16 - 10:57 am et
Source: ESPN.com - frankly, this could be the best opportunity for the Mets to get themselves a new SP1, but it would probably take a deal that included paying a good portion on K-Rod's contract in the deal, plus prospects like Jenrry Mejia and Ike Davis.
Cliff Lee to Nats:
Industry sources believe they have a chance. Several baseball officials believe the 32-year-old left-hander is the team's big target this winter, and expect they could make the kind of blockbuster offer to Lee to get the job done. The buzz around baseball is that Lee will "follow the money" this winter and pitch for the highest bidder. The questions, though, will be whether Lee sticks to that if the best offer is in Washington - and whether the Nationals are comfortable tying up a large chunk of their payroll to get Lee, especially when younger pitchers like Kansas City's Zack Greinke and Tampa Bay's Matt Garza could be available via trade this winter.
He could command a deal in the neighborhood of $125 million for five years, and while baseball sources believe the Nationals are willing to spend that kind of money,
Strassberg, Lee, Storen, Zimmerman, Detwiller... yikes!

RHP, Normal (Frontier) - Age: 22. B-T: R-R. Ht.: 5-9. Wt.: 160.
There are very few players in the independent leagues who are truly overlooked. They may not have gotten a good look because they played at a small school or because they missed time with injuries, but in most cases there is some reason that a scout at first glance decided to move on.
In Pritchett's case, the reason is quite apparent as soon as he steps onto the mound—he's 5-foot-9. But when Pritchett steps onto the mound, his stuff looks a lot bigger than his size would indicate. At Central Arkansas, Pritchett was a four-year starter on the mound and is the program's all-time leader in innings pitched. He also started two years at shortstop, but given a chance to focus solely on pitching, he proved to be one of the Frontier League's best starters as a rookie. He went 2-2, 2.86 with 79 strikeouts in 72 innings.
Pritchett's fastball tops out at 94 mph, although he more often sits between 91-92. Unlike most independent league pitchers with a plus fastball, the athletic Pritchett shows solid command. He also throws a decent changeup and curveball with some bite. - BA
