bleacherreport - Grade: B+ - Stats: (11-9, 2.98 ERA, 1.18 WHIP) - Santana had a very solid year and is a good example of why wins and losses are not a good way to evaluate a pitcher. He saw his strikeout rate drop to 6.5 K/9 this year. He posted a better ERA than he did last year and was undoubtedly a leader for the Mets pitching staff. Santana posted a 4.4 WAR this year which was the 9th best for pitchers in the National League.

bleacherreport - “Anybody who thinks I'm the general manager, do you think I really would go out and sign Oliver Perez? Or did I go along with what my GM suggested? We tried to get the best contract we could with him. It obviously hasn't worked so far. So the new GM coming in hopefully won't have the baggage of Oliver Perez being under his watch.”
Tom Seaver:
meetthematts - Get Seaver Involved: Why isn’t The Franchise involved in the franchise? Is it because Tom Terrific wouldn’t look right in a stadium built for the Dodgers and Giants? Over in the Bronx, Reggie Jackson roams the Yankee offices, advising on this and that. Sorry Reg, but George Thomas Seaver has more baseball savoir faire in his pinky toe than you have in your entire Adonis-like body. Is Seaver a tad snotty? Maybe. Does he carry himself as though he’s above most around him? At times. But so does Tall Matt. Look, people with class tend to be somewhat snooty, as London mayor and MTM frequenter Alexander Boris de Pfeffel Johnson will most certainly confirm. Does this organization need class at the risk of being somewhat pompous? You bet your Billy Wagner Bobble Head it does. From K-Rod getting thrown in the slammer to Ollie’s pouting to Beltran’s disdain for rightfield, the Mets’ need for a mentor in baseball etiquette is without question. Seaver is that mentor. Give him a hall pass and he’ll make the Mets more… Metropolitan. Have Tall Matt join him

John Hart:
NYP - Hart does possess a talent the Mets clearly are looking for in this search: the ability to fill a front office with talent, intelligence and fraternity. In his years in Cleveland and Texas as general manager, Hart hired and mentored a slew of future general managers: Dan O'Dowd, Josh Byrnes, Mark Shapiro, Paul DePodesta, Jon Daniels, Chris Antonetti and Neal Huntington. He also hired current Phillies manager Charlie Manuel as a hitting coach in Cleveland. Mets assistant general manager John Ricco is not being considered for the GM slot, but the Mets wouldn't mind having him groomed for the position in the future. Ricco actually is a key component in the search, working in tandem with owner Jeff Wilpon.
