2006

Although the team has declined to comment, several newspapers and internet sites report the Mets' new ballpark will be known as Citi Field. The deal with CitiCorp, the nation's largest bank, may be worth as much as $20 million annually for 20 years, making it the richest naming rights agreement in sports history, exceeding the 32-year, $300 million contract between the NFL's Texans and Reliant Energy Inc.

I love the birthday names. Half these guys, I recall the names, but have no recollection of them actually playing.

My brother wants the best = Realmuto - and a competent back up catcher. That certainly makes a lot of sense.

I think everyone will love Realmuto for the first half of his contract and not so much the second half as his skills decline and he deals with Hip issues. If they win a WS in 3-5 years it will be worth it.

I like your idea about the two Catcher tandem the best. It allows for both to play at their peak and if one gets hurt - you are not stuck.

John, like any contract like this, it has a defined yearly payout, but in actuality, the real value is up front.

Let's say He signs for 5 years $150. It would really be worth $40 yr 1, $35 year 2, $30 year 3, $25 year 4, and $20 year 5.
