Norfolk 5, Bisons 1

With the winds swirling at Coca-Cola Field, Norfolk turned the tide on the Bisons with a 5-1 victory over Buffalo on Saturday afternoon.

A second consecutive pitcher's duel was broken wide open when Norfolk sent eight men to the plate in a four-run eighth inning. Oscar Salazar's fifth home run of the season capped the rally and snapped the Herd's two-game win streak.

On Friday night, the Bisons scored three eighth-inning runs with two outs to snap a 1-1 tied for a 4-1 victory. Norfolk countered on Saturday as their four runs put away another close game between the two clubs.

With the Tides holding onto a 1-0 lead in the eighth, Norfolk's catching prospect Matt Wieters hit a double down the right field line off reliever Carlos Muniz that plated two insurance runs. Salazar followed with a two-run homer to left-center that put the game out of reach.

Prior to that, Bisons hurlers Kyle Snyder and Tim McNab held the #2 offense in the International League at bay for most of the game. Norfolk had just two hits over the first seven innings of the game. Snyder worked the first four and struck out a season-high six batters. He allowed an unearned run on two Bisons' fielding errors in the fourth inning, making him the hard-luck loser
