Tides 3, Herd 1

A third straight pitcher's duel between the Tides and the Bisons went to Norfolk with a 3-1 victory over the Herd on Sunday afternoon from Coca-Cola Field.

Hits and runs have been hard to come by for both teams since Norfolk came into town on Friday.

Buffalo won the first game of the series, 4-1, while the Tides took Saturday's game, 5-1, with the help of four late runs.

On Sunday, it was the Bisons Nelson Figueroa that squared off against Rich Hill of the Baltimore Orioles' down on a rehab assignment. Figueroa was his usual dominating self, allowing just two runs in seven innings of work.

But for the third time this season the Bisons starter was a hard-luck loser. Hill shutout the Bisons over six innings of work. He allowed just two hits and struck out seven Buffalo batters to earn the win.

The Bisons avoided the shutout with Mike Lamb's RBI-double with two outs in the ninth inning. Argenis Reyes finished the game 2-3 with a double and a walk. He singled to lead off the ninth inning and scored on Lamb's two-bagger.

Norfolk scored solo runs in the first, fifth and eighth inning in the win. Oscar Salazar's RBI-single with two outs in the first got the Tides on the scoreboard while Justin Christian's single gave Norfolk a 2-0 advantage. Matt Wieters scored on a passed ball to add insurance in the eighth.
