Cutnpaste: - Jason Bay, Nails, Sandy and J.P, Jose Reyes, and John Franco

Jason Bay:

Bay was not the power threat the Mets had hoped for last season. He hit just six home runs in 95 games before crashing into the left field wall at Dodger Stadium, suffering a concussion, and missing the last two months of the season. Bay’s grace period with Mets fans is probably over, and he can’t expect to present the same production and not hear about it- loudly. Bay has averaged 30 home runs and 105 runs batted in throughout his career, and production like that will be what the Mets will expect, and need. - metsreport.

Nails:

Former pro baseball player Lenny Dykstra’s housekeeper accused him of sexual assault, according to records, though prosecutors declined to file charges this month citing a lack of evidence. According to the rejection memo by Los Angeles County prosecutors, a female housekeeper alleged Dykstra would force her to give him oral sex on Saturdays. However, the 41-year-old woman’s case seemed to flounder because of an apparent lack of evidence that the activity was forced. The woman told investigators she “needed the job and the money so she went along with the suspect’s requests rather than lose her job,” according to the filing, and “returned to work in the suspect’s home with knowledge that she obtained from the Internet of a claim of sexual assault by another woman.” - latimesblogs

Sandy and J.P.:

When Alderson first approached Ricciardi in November about a potential job with the Mets, his former assistant balked. In the months since his dismissal in Toronto, Ricciardi had grown comfortable at home in suburban Massachusetts, keeping tabs on the industry but also on his two teenage sons. The same was true for DePodesta, who was content with his job -- and the weather -- in San Diego. Both men, though, eventually accepted offers in New York, both citing Alderson as the primary reason. They wanted to work for him again. And that was precisely what Commissioner Bud Selig had envisioned when he requested in October that Alderson call him. -

Jose Reyes:

Just a few years ago, Reyes was on par with Carl Crawford as the game's most complete and dangerous leadoff hitter. His season averages from 2006-2008 were .292 BA, 16 HR, 69 RBI, 66 SB as he was arguably the best table setter in all of baseball. However, he has been hampered by injuries the past two seasons, missing a total of 155 games, and the Mets have suffered because of it. Regardless, when he hits free agency following the 2011 season, he will be looking for a contract similar to the seven-year, $142 million mega deal that Crawford signed this offseason, and he won't get it from the Mets, so look for them to deal him if they fall out of contention early. - bleacherreport.

John Franco:

The overall numbers are very solid (276 saves, 3.10 ERA), but Franco was the ultimate “cardiac closer,” which shouldn’t be a surprise considering his career Mets WHIP of 1.365. With that said, Franco was a tough as they come on the mound. He may have blown saves, but he battled every night, and would be by his locker after a tough loss. We have seen many come through these parts that hide when the lights shine the brightest. I wonder if he was pitching the ninth inning, instead of Armando Benitez, in Game 1 of the 2000 World Series, if the Yankees would have come back. Could make an argument for Top 10, but decided to go with Leiter over Franco. -
