Mack Draft: - J.J. Ethel, Gerrit Cole. George Springer, Tanner English, and Anthony Rendon

Senior catcher J. J. Ethel batted .303 with two home runs, 15 RBI and 15 runs scored in 41 games for UofL in 2010 after transferring from Scottsdale Community College. Opposing base runners were successful in 53.8 (7-13) percent of stolen base attempts against Ethel in 2010. During the UofL Fall World Series Ethel started each of the five games for assistant coach Xan Barksdale’s team, going 6-20 with two runs scored and two RBI - http://blugrassbaseball.com/

Gerrit Cole: - His affiliation with Scott Boras will definitely effect where he goes, however, more and more teams picking at the top of the draft are starting to loosen the purse strings after being burned by not taking players widely felt to be better prospects. The Pirates did so with Alvarez in 2008 and Taillon last year after a long history of going the more cost effective route (as they did again in 2009 with Tony Sanchez). The same could be said for the Orioles, who went big with Matt Wieters as noted by John in 2007 and again last year with Manny Machado. The Royals have been loading up with Boras clients in recent years, so their selection of Christian Colon last year stands out more so than their previous four first-round picks: Luke Hochevar, Mike Moustakas, Eric Hosmer and Aaron Crow. - http://www.5tooltalk.com/2011-feature-mailbag-1-16-11.html

George Springer – Connecticut - All Springer has done upon beginning his college career, also starring for both Team USA and on the Cape last summer, is hit. He, like Cone, is a legitimate and exciting five-tool talent, although more seemed convinced of Springer’s ability to hit at the next level, which is why he is one of the players discussed for the top three to five overall picks. He may fit best in right field where his powerful bat and arm strength would profile perfectly. - http://www.perfectgame.org/Articles/View.aspx?article=5155

http://www.perfectgame.org/Articles/View.aspx?article=5164  - - The recently completed Perfect Game World Showcase in Fort Myers featured one of the most talented groups of players ever to play in this long running event, which dates back to 1997 and was the original Perfect Game showcase. Players are 2011 prospects: - 5. CF Tanner English (Murrels Inlet, SC): English was one of the keys to the Diamond Devils WWBA 17U World Championship team last summer but we had no idea he had this kind of raw tools. The 5-9 right handed hitter ran 6.37 and threw 97 mph from the outfield while also showing plus bat speed.

Anthony Rendon: He’s the best college position player in several seasons and will be the top pick in the MLB draft this summer barring a surprise. Rendon has crushed the ball his first two seasons and hopes to put an exclamation point on his collegiate career with a great junior campaign. As a sophomore last season, Rendon batted .394 with 12 doubles, a triple, 26 homers and 85 RBIs. He also slugged .801 and had a .530 on-base percentage. Could Rendon somehow do even better than last season this year? - http://www.tossitaround.com/baseball-news/college/14402.html
