My next top performer from the 2010 summer season is Greg Nappo of the Haymarket Senators. Greg is a senior LHP from the University of Connecticut. He is 6-0/200 pounds and he hails from Madison, CT. He attended Daniel Hand High School. He had a very productive 2010 season for the Huskies. As a weekend starter, he went 8-5, and sported a 4.44 era in a team-high 97.1 innings pitched. He also struck out 72 batters last season. His outstanding pitching helped to lead UCONN to deep into the NCAA Tourney. - http://www.collegesummerbaseball.net/2011/01/top-performer-from-2010-greg-nappo.html
We continue the list today with number 23 with Utah junior catcher C.J. Cron. The Phoenix, Arizona native attended Mountain Point High School. He had a solid senior season hitting .421 with eight home runs and 35 RBI. He ended up setting school records in that season for doubles, RBI and least strikeouts. He picked up several awards during his high school days including being named twice as all-state, all-region, all-city and a member of 5A State All-Star Team. His biggest honor came after his junior season in 2007 which he hit .419 with 46 RBI and 8 home runs in 30 games while being named Louisville Slugger Honorable Mention All-American. The Chicago White Sox selected him in the 44th round (1,320 overall) but decided to head to Utah to continue his baseball career. - http://www.collegebaseballdaily.com/2011/01/01/top-100-countdown-23-c-j-cron-utah/?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+CollegeBaseballDaily+%28College+Baseball+Daily%29&utm_content=Twitter
Congratulations to DANIEL VOGELBACH (Bishop Verot H.S. - Fort Myers, FL) - 5th Annual POWER SHOWCASE International Home Run Derby WORLD CHAMPION !!! The event took place December 28 - 30, 2010 at Chase Field in Phoenix, AZ.
My next top performer from the 2010 summer season is Mike Mandarino of the Southampton Breakers. Mike is currently a junior IF/P from Cumberland University. He is 6-1/210 pounds and he hails from Massapequa, NY. He attended both Camden County College and Brevard CC before enrolling at NAIA Cumberland. Mike spent this summer playing for the Southampton Breakers of the Atlantic Collegiate Baseball League. While it's no secret that the top players flock to the Cape Cod League, Mike may have just turned in one of the best summer's while playing for the Breakers. He was the quintessential two-way player this past season. He was effective both as a pitcher and offensively, most his pitching is what made him famous in the ACBL. - http://www.collegesummerbaseball.net/2010/12/top-performers-from-2010-mike-mandarino.html
Trevor Story: - ss/of - Irving HS, Irving, Texas - Story has the potential to shine as an offensive shortstop, though his bat was lacking for most of the event. He was generally overly-aggressive at the plate, though he did show good bat speed. When he did reach base, Story showed some aggression, stealing second on a "first move go" despite the pitcher throwing to 1st. He is not an elite athlete, but shows clean enough actions at short to potentially project there down the line. He has a high level of comfort in the field and shows easy footwork and accuracy on his throws. If he can break out the bat moving forward, he could move up follow lists quickly. http://diamondscapescouting.com/articles_2010acg_wraps_part1_11162010.html
