Cutnpaste: - Wilfredo Tovar, Cory Vaughn, Jefry Marte, Steven Matz, Ike Davis

11-13-11: - http://www.metsblog.com/2011/11/13/afl-round-up-juan-lagares-has-been-stellar-this-fall  -  •2B Wilfredo Tovar has had a nice fall season for Peoria, hitting .291 with a home run and eight RBI in 21 games, and he’s hit .289 in his last ten games with four multiple hit games over that span. The 20 year old Tovar played for the Savannah Sand Gnats in the South Atlantic League this past season, hitting .251 with a .318 on base percentage.

10-25-11: - http://www.minorleaguerundown.com/2011/10/25/2011-top-20-new-york-mets-prospects - 2011 Top 20 New York Mets Prospects – 9. Cory Vaughn, OF (Low/High Class A): Very quietly, Vaughan represents one of the stronger offensive talents in the system. Vaughn has the power, eye, and bat speed to be a solid regular outfielder if he can further develop his pitch recognition. His 22% K rate must not get any worse at the AA level, as his power is not big enough to compensate for the lack of regular quality contact. Nevertheless, he’s athletic, has posted around a 10%+ walk rate every year, and his power potential is still of value. Vaughn should not be expected to post so low a BABIP next year (.247), so some offensive resurgence (more like his low A numbers) should be in order.

11-16-11: - http://www.metsblog.com  - Mets third base prospect Jefry Marte has suffered a broken wrist while playing in the Arizona Fall League this past weekend, writes Toby Hyde of Mets Minor League Blog.According to Hyde, Mets Farm Director Adam Wogan said Marte suffered a distal radial fracture to his left wrist, and after recently having surgery in New York, he is expected to be ready for Spring Training. Marte had a strong month with the Peoria Javelinas, putting up multiple-hit games in four of his last ten games played. He’d shown good power and good patience over that stretch, as he had three home runs and nine RBI with seven walks in 35 plate appearances over that span.

11-16-11: - http://www.metsminorleagueblog.com/remember-steven-matz  - Remember Steven Matz, the Mets first pick, at #72 overall in the second round of the 2009 draft?  Matz signed at the deadline in 2009, had Tommy John Surgery  in May of 2010 and still has not appeared in a game for the Mets.  He was “progressing” according to Mets Farm Director Adam Wogan this fall, but not to the point where the Mets were ready to have him pitch in instructional league games in Fort Myers Florida.  Instead, the team shut him down with the idea that he would start his winter throwing program at full strength with the hope, as Wogan said, “that he’ll be just fine come spring training.”

Ike’s bat will have to carry him because he is as slow as molasses. He had a total of 0 SBs in the minors over 3 years. In 2010, he was able to steal 3 bases with the Mets. I would considered any steal over 1 to be a windfall. The big question for 2012 is how much the ankle injury will hurt his production. All reports point to him being 100% healthy for spring training. I would watch carefully to see if he misses any time at all because the injury. A team drafting Ike may need to take some need insurance in case he does not come back 100%. A late round pick of someone like Todd Helton can give an owner some insurance with little risk. Ike Davis‘ 2011 season started out promising until he injured his ankle. He has already shown that he can hit for power at Citi Field and with the fences moving in, his power numbers will likely improve. The key to his 2012 value will be if his ankle is completely healed. http://www.fangraphs.com/fantasy/index.php/i-like-ike
