C- I'm really hoping Mike Zunino falls to us at #12 in the 2012 draft. If not, your guess is as good as mine.
1b- Ike Davis
2b- Reese Havens (with Valdespin, Muno, Evans pressing the issue)
SS- Ruben Tejada (see above)
3b- David Wright
LF- Cesar Puello
CF- Brandon Nimmo (if not ready, Kirk Niewenhuis or Matt den Dekker)
RF- Lucas Duda
SP1- Zach Wheeler
SP2- Jenrry Mejia
SP3- Matt Harvey
SP4- Jon Niese
SP5- R.A. Dickey
CL- Jeurys Familia
With: Domingo Tapia, Akeel Morris, Luis Mateo, Gabriel Ynoa, Jeffry Marte, Wilmer Flores, and on and on along with the 2011 and 2012 draftees all waiting in the rafters. Not to mention, something has to come of Satin, Lutz, Fernando Martinez, Schwinden, Gee, McHugh, Gorski etc. etc. of the list of players who likely will become major league baseball players just not for the Mets. Look for Sandy (Ricciardi?) to move them for other pieces.
Frankly, not many organizations can do what I just did and list a team two years from now that will be costing something like 60 million, is completely homegrown (save Dickey), and has that much raw talent and potential at every position (save the unicorn-esque catcher that has been eluding the Mets since Piazza).
Yes, a lot can go wrong between now and then but the situation in Flushing is not as dire as it may seem. The Mets could be cash-strapped for years and still contend with this team two years from now.
Thoughts?

My.only thought: I wish it was 2014
I like it! I wouldn't underestimate Thole's lasting ability. At the start of 2014 he'll only just be starting his arbitration years and 27 years old. There's still a bit of upside there.
I'd be surprised if the Mets still employed Wright or Dickey in 2014. Dickey will become more expensive when he hits free agency after 2012, and Wright's a free agent after 2013 (2012 if the Mets decline his option).
Juan Lagares deserves mention in LF/RF if Puello doesn't put it all together. And I wonder if the Mets would try Valdespin in CF if he's blocked at 2B.
I love how you keep Dickey and Wright around, my two favorite players in 2011. Wouldn't it be better for Duda to be in left and Puello in right?
I don't see Nimmo starting 2014 on the Mets, but he could surprise, and it's not like there aren't other options.
Max, if R.A. Dickey is too rich for the Mets blood in 2014, something has gone horribly wrong.
Anonymous, in.case you.haven't noticed, something has already gone horribly.wrong....thx fred and jeff
I think it's expecting too much to think all of the Mets prospects will pan out and to their ceilings as well. Still, it would be nice.
Mets will trade someone or several players to Get Grandal from the Red in July of this year. The Reds have a highly regarded catching prospect ahead of Grandal by a season so if he pans out and the rds are in the hunt then Grandal can be had.
Charles, I won't be putting too much stock on the Wilpons two years into the future. Either the Mets have finally found fiscal responsibility, or their gone. At least, I hope so.
NCMetFan--I agree. I would not be surprised to see Sandy work a deal for Grandal (or Montero of New York) for one of our young starters (Niese or Familia are the two I see most likely to go).
Michael: Absolutely. Although that is why this says "Possible". Also keep in mind that there are multiple options at many of these positions and a ton of pitching depth so if even half of our prospects pan out and come close to ceiling, we will still be just fine. And this takes NOTHING of free agency into account.
Max- Yes, Lagares deserves a mention although his high strikeout rate and questionable status as a CF hurt his odds.
Anonymous- Depends on how much Puello grows. Duda has a canon for an arm and I was pleasantly surprised to see how accurate it was too. He could stick in right.
Juan Lagares will get a chance in spring training to stick this season as a utility outfielder and emergency infielder (remember, he came to the Mets as a middle infielder).
