Matt Harvey through 16 starts: 2.05 ERA, 121/24 K/BB in 110 IP.
R.A Dickey through 16 starts last year: 2.15 ERA, 116/25 K/BB in 113 IP.
Jared Diamond @jareddiamond - asked Zach Lutz about Ike today -- said he has been swinging without the hitch. The recent HR, he said, we NOT Vegas specials. Bombs.
Mike Puma @NYPost_Mets - Was told yesterday that if Wilmer Flores has to fall down to make a play, it's a
hit, because he can't get up and throw the runner out.
I have absolutely no problem with Noah Syndergaard's first AA outing. He didn't give u his first walk until the 5th inning and had six strikeouts through five. This is all virgin territory for him and giving up only two runs in a shaky third inning in which he yielded three hits in a row. 3.00 ERA... excellent first AA outing.
Brooklyn signed, and pitched, a new starter yesterday. Dario Alvarez was an undrafted international free agent that the Phillies brought to their DSL team in 2007. He pitched there for three years, disappeared (like so many of these guys do) for two years, and resurfaced yesterday for the Clones. The 6-1 lefty is now 24-years old and pitched well at this level far below where he should be at: 4.1-IP, 1-ER, 5-K.
I loved when Carlos Gomez when he pitched as a starter three years ago for the DSL Mets (7-2, 1.47). Naturally, they then turned him into a reliever the following year for the GCL team and, after eight games (1.59) when down for the rest of the year and all of 2012. Well, he's back now for Kingsport and he's starting again. Yesterday: 5.0-IP, 0-R, 0.00.

Mack.
Now that the short season rosters have been set and games are being played, who
are you surprised to see on each team? Good and bad? Last year a couple of the
college draftees went straight to Savannah but none this year so far, does that
mean the Mets are slowing everyone down? Any international prospects you see the Mets
targeting this July? Thanks.
Hey Derek
Last
question first. Nobody ever shares what International prospects are being
looked at. Baseball America comes out every year with a top ten 16-year old
prospect list, and, to the best of my memory, the Mets have never signed one this
high. They did trade last year for RF Wuilmer
Beccera, who I seem to remember was ranked
either 11th or 12th a few years ago. I haven’t seen this
year’s list yet and, when I do, I will post it.
Most of my
surprises were disappointments. Top Latin IF prospect, German Rosario, never was assigned to
either DSL team or came out of extended camp… 22-yr. old 2B Leon Canelon is playing GCL, far too
down the ladder for someone that age… college outfielder Jared King wasn’t assigned to
Savannah. Saddest for me is no assignment for one of my local boys, ex-prospect
pitcher Zack Dotson. Dotson’s Mets days look to be over.
Regarding
the college boys, you may see Matt Oberste in Savannah before the season is over. The pitchers are
blocked by the current Savannah rotation (that’s blocked by the St. Lucie
rotation).
Oranizational Update – Rotations
We wrote
Sunday about the positional players. Today we’re covering the rotation
pitchers, specifically those that are considered either ‘prospects’ or are wht
we call ‘pre-prospects’… pitchers that could develop.
The Mets
system has many:
AAA – RHP Rafael Montero
AA – RHP Noah Sydergaard, RHP Logan Verrett, RHP Cory Mazzoni
A+ - RHP Domingo Tapia, RHP Matthew Bowman, RHP Rainy Lara, LHP Alex Panteleodis
A – LHP Steven Matz, RHP Luis Cessa, RHP Gabriel Ynoa,
Considering
the fact that RHP Mike Harvey, RHP Zack Wheeler, LHP Jon Niese, and RHP Dillon Gee are already in Queens, this is considered the deepest pitching
system in baseball.
This is 10
more (if everyone is healthy) starters than this team is going to need over the
next four seasons, which means there should be plenty of opportunities to trade
for every day players plus an additional upper-level lefty starter.
Additional
movements that should happen this season:
Move from AAA to MLB –
Montero in September
Move from AA to AAA –
Verrett and Mazzoni
Move from A+ to AA –
Bowman and Panteleodis
Move from A to A+ -
Matz, Cessa, and Ynoa
Some of the relievers
have begun to be bumped up (Jim Fuller to AA, Bret Mitchell to A+), but there looks to be plenty to go. He is a
partial list of guys that seem to have earned a promotion before the season
ends (notice the proliferation of lefties):
AAA – LHP Justin Hampson
– 35-appearances, 3.63, 1.62
LHP Sean Henn – 24-appearances – 3.81, 2.04
(by
Vegas standards, these are pretty decent stats)
AA – LHP Chase
Huchingson – 24-appearances, 2.21,
1.28
RHP
John Church –
27-appearances, 3.09, 1.19
LHP
Adam Kolarek –
21-appearances, 1.71, 1.14
RHP
Jeff Walters –
28-appearances, 2.59, 1.15
A+ - RHP
Randy Fontanez –
23-appearances, 3.73, 1.53
LHP
T.J. Chism –
25-appearances, 2.08, 1.35
LHP
Hamilton Bennett –
25-appearances, 1.50, 1.20
A - RHP
Julian Hilario – 22-appearances,
3.63, 1.16
RHP
Hunter Carnevale –
23-appearances, 2.79, 1.14
RHP Beck Wheeler – 21-appearances, 1.59,
0.85

I thought German Ahmed Rosario was this dude. Bit I guess kport would have been way too aggressive for a 16 year old.

It is that guy; there aren't two Rosario's.
Also, note Rosario was ranked 11th on BA's list last year.
Yeah, like I said on a couple of other posts, I had one to many Rosarios for dinner last night.
My bad and a special shout out goes out to the kid that left the insulting comment.
My apologies to you and your youth. I wish I still had mine as well as full usage of my brain, but I don't and I make mistakes sometimes.
Please try and understand I don't seek you out to insult you. Just enjoy the site and live with my horrible spelling and brain fart memory.
Mack
No insult intended Mack. I was genuinely confused as to whether the kid in kport was the same one we signed last year.
Also, I see Lenny Rosario is pitching for the GCL mets today. I'm betting it's Ahmed with a Bobby V mustache.
no, it wasn't you Justin
I deleted the post from one of the NYFS creeps
