Mets Minor League Report – June 1

Savannah (33-22) blanks Kannapolis (19-34) 5-0.
Luis Cessa, (W, 3-2) threw 7.2 shutout innings, 2 H, 0 BB, 10 K.
Tyler Vanderheiden pitched the 9th, giving up 1 hit and getting all 3 outs via the strikeout.
Cole Frenzel: 3-4, 2B, RBI.
Kevin Plawecki: 2-4, R.
Brandon Nimmo: 1-4, 2B, RBI, R.

Charlotte (24-28)  edges St Lucie (29-23) 2-1.
In a game shortened to 7 innings to accommodate the double header, Domingo Tapia allowed 1 R on 5 H, (HR) and 2 BB, with 4 K.
With the game tied at 1 in the bottom of the 6th, T.J. Chism (L, 0-3) gave up the go-ahead run on a HBP, a SB, and a run scoring 2B, to take the loss.
St. Lucie’s run came on a solo HR by DH, Charley Thurber.

St Lucie (29-23) @ Charlotte (24-28) Game 2 - postponed (rain).

Binghamton (32-24) tops New Hampshire (28-29) 6-0.
Another strong start for Rafael Montero (W, 6-3) who went 7.0 scoreless innings: 5 H, BB, 4 K .
Chase Hutchingson pitched the final 2.0 innings, allowing only a BB with 2 K.
Danny Muno: 3-5, HR, 3 RBI, 2 R, SB.
Cory Vaughn: 3-5, HR, 2B, 2 RBI, R.

At the time of this writing, Las Vegas (27-26) leads Reno (21-35) 2-1 after 6 innings.
Zack Wheeler, in 6.0 IP: 1 R, 3 H, BB, 6 K. Lookin’ good. See you in Queens is a few weeks.
Kirk Nieuwenhuis: 1-2, HR, BB, 2 RBI, R.

editor note: Las Vegas won 2-1... Wheeler was done after six solid innings... Justin Mapson, David Aardsma, Josh Edgin, and Gonzalez German combined for 3 scoreless innings...
