After a very strong 2012 with the Savannah Sand Gnats at the young age of 19, a lot of eyes were going to be on Fulmer this to see if he could conquer the Florida State League as well. Unfortunately his season hasn't started yet thanks to surgery to repair a torn meniscus in his knee. Generally these injuries aren't serious and don't really affect a player's future but the Mets have been playing it cautiously and taking their time with Fulmer's recovery unlike Tim Brydak who came back after 2 weeks. Toby Hyde of Metsminorleagueblog.com reported that he was throwing as of April 27th in Extended Spring Training and was going to go through a Spring Training Process before pitching in games. Expect him to replace Syndergaard in Port St. Lucie's rotation once Wheeler goes up to the MLB, Montero to AAA, and Syndergaard to AA.

It feels like Flores has been with the Mets organization for almost a decade now. However the fact of the matter is that he's still only 21 years old and at that young age he is performing extremely well with the bat. Not only is he leading the Pacific Coast League in doubles, but he's also driving runs in and maintaining a sub .300 Avg with his K rate down to a measly 11% of his total Plate Appearances. This is something the Mets really need at the next level. His defense is still a work in progress at 2B so they won't rush him to the big leagues especially with Murphy holding his own. If Tim Teufel can turn Murphy into a average fielding 2B then I'm sure he won't have any problems finishing up Flores's conversion.

d'Arnaud started the year in Las Vegas and was expected to be on the same flight as Wheeler to New York in about a week but plans never work out the right way in this world. During his 12th game of the season, he fouled a ball off that caught him in the foot and broke a bone. This is hardly a major injury nor is it really impacting his development time as he already was "MLB ready." Doctors just gave him the ok to resume baseball activities so look for him to spend 2 weeks rehabbing then another 2 weeks in AAA to shake the rust off before coming up to the big leagues after the All-Star break.

Last but not least we come to Zack Wheeler. He's been having an up and down campaign all season long and struggled early in the season with his mechanics. But, like all great prospects he was able to identify the issues with his mechanics, make adjustments, and is currently riding a streak of 6 good quality starts which is tough to do in the PCL. The latest rumors has his ticket punched and the plane waiting to bring him to Citi Field to make his 1st career MLB start against the Chicago Cubs next week.

In retrospect, we probably had Fulmer too high. Word I get is his healing process has really slowed down.
Everybody heals differently and you take such a chance drafting a high school arm.
I still like Fulmer a lot. I don't see why he can't be in the starting conversation 1.5-2 years from now.
