Mets Minor League Report: May 18, 2014



MMLR Player of the Day: Las Vegas RF Andrew Brown

Not a very good day for our Mets farm teams, going 1-3 in a rare losing day. Two of the losses were by 1 run, as was the lone win, that one in extra innings.

El Paso (19-24) over Las Vegas (31-12) in a slugfest, but not by much: 10-9.

The 51’s took a 6 run lead into the 6th inning, when the roof fell in.

Joel Carreno: (BS, 2) 1.0 IP, 3 R, 3 H, (HR) BB, K.
Miguel Socolovich: (L, 1-1) 2.0 IP, R, 3 H, (HR) 0 BB, 2 K.

Allan Dykstra: 1-4, HR, BB, RBI, R.
Andrew Brown: 4-5, HR, 2B, 2 RBI, R.
Zach Lutz: 3-5, HR, 2 RBI, 3 R.
Omar Quintanilla: 2-5, HR, 2 RBI, 2 R.

 

 
Binghamton (23-16) nips New Hampshire (15-26) in a 14 inning slugfest 9-8.

Binghamton took a 7 run lead into the bottom of the 6th, but with a more positive result.

The B-Mets had to use 7 pitchers to get the game to the 14th inning, when they finally pulled it out.
Starter Tyler Pill was 1 out short of a quality start: 5.2 IP, 2 R, 6 H, BB, 6 K.
T.J. Chism got the final out of the 6th inning, and was then charged with 5 runs on 3 hits 1 BB in the 7th without recording an out.
Jon Velasquez (BS, 1) allowed all 3 runners he inherited to score: 1.0 IP, 0 R, H, BB, 2 K.
Jack Leathersich (BS, 2) was given a 1 run lead in the top of the 8th, but promptly surrendered it in the bottom of the inning, for a rare 2nd blown save in a game: 2.0 IP, R, 3 H, 0 BB, 2 K.
Chase Bradford was perfect for 2.0 innings. (3 K)
Adam Kolarek (W, 1-0) got the win: 2.0 IP, 0 R, H, 2 BB, 2 K.
John Church (S, 1) pitched a perfect 14th for the save: 2 K

Brian Burgamy: 3-7, 2B, BB, 2 R.
Matt Reynolds: 4-7, 3B, BB, 2 RBI, 2 R.
Kevin Plawecki: 3-7, BB, 2 RBI, R.
Jayce Boyd: 4-7, 2B, RBI, R.
Darrell Ceciliani: 1-7, HR, 2 RBI, R.

 

Lakeland (27-15) edges St. Lucie (24-19) 3-2.

Chris Flexen (L, 1-5) just cannot find his 2013 mojo: 5.1 IP, 5 R, 4 ER, 7 H, (HR) 3 BB, 4 K.
