Ed Delany Pics - Brayan Campusano, John Magliozzi, Thomas McIlraith

Three more great pics from our good friend, Ed Delany, who hangs out all day in Lucy... how's that for a life. First up, pitcher  Brayan Campusano...

Next up is pitcher John Magliozzi. 'Mags' went 5-1, 3.19, 44-appearances for St. Lucie and will return there for the start of this season.

Lastly, starter Thomas McIlraith, who also will start the season with St. Lucie.

Not a bad start (3-1) for these 2018 NY Mets. It appears that Manager Callaway has everything running smoothly, more relaxed, and right on target. I like the additional depth that this season's team brings with it.

Possible Ideas:

I probably would not be making PJ Conlon a reliever but rather leave him in his natural starting mode. The reason is that he has gotten some very favorable results over a short sample versus MLB batters in preseason. If you really look at it, he may just need a slight mph uptick on his fastball to really be dominant here.

Steven Matz still struggles in his first 2018 start. To me, it looks more with his thinking and composure then his pitching mechanics. I for one believe that he will resolve this quickly and be back to his old self next start.

But to have another really good lefty starter like the young PJ Conlon to come in for these NY Mets, may just make optimal sense now, especially in light of the injury tradition this team has going.

Yes, the team could groom PJ for early relief, but they already have Blevins as their lefty mathematician there. He has four very effective pitches.

All three starters (Thor, Dgrom, and Matt "The Man About Tinsel Town") all impressed me in their first starts. Bravo! And Lutz looked nothing short of sensational in relief yesterday. No surprise there really.

So then this...Where would PJ Conlon start if the five already in the rotation stayed healthy and pitching well? Jerry Manual, meet your six man rotation, finally.
