Whew, poor Jannis. Knuckleballs don't knuck in thin air you know.

Tom Brennan said...

Should have left Jannis in AA - if he put up a 2.00 ERA in AA, it would prove he is ready without AAA.

At least Reno missed that field goal, and just had the two touchdowns. Reno is going to the Rose Bowl.

Watching MiLB Conlon, Smith, and Cecchini right now. Waiting on rest to lock-in themself. Nice to have Zach back up. Mickey has team playing excellent ball.

Observations:
Might be nice to see Bruce some on first base now. Mets better with Nimmo playing I have noticed. AGonza, Frazier, Csped, and also Bruce need rejuve games from time to time. All 30+ in age. Long season. Could spare injuries.

MLB Thought:
MLB Commish and Board of Trustees need to sit down and discuss a later April 15th start date for the 2019 season. Weather is crucial. Fans clearly not showing up in this cold up north. Teams go from 38 degrees up north to 82 degrees in Miami. Easy to get hurt this way throwing 97 mph fastballs. Season should be over Septemeber 15th, WS done by October 1st.

Moving Bruce to 1B strengthens the D in RF, but weakens in in RF. With a 2-run lead in Bottom 9,why wasn't Lag put into CF, with 4to moving to RF?

The 2B that Bruce failed to snag looked catchable.

I expct Gonzalez to slowly fade...

bill metsiac said...

Do you expect Smith to fade, too? I like Bruce, but IMO he's the easily replaceable weak link, not the answer at 1B.

bill metsiac said...

I meant in my first comment that movin him strengthens the D in RF, but weakens it at 1B.

Mack Ade said...

Bill

No.

Only the old fade.

re Bill Metsiac comments on Jay Bruce:
To me, 1B is still not rock solid going forward. AGonza is solid but 35 years old and should not be considered an every game player. Dom Smith is doing well at Vegas, he may take some games if/when he comes up.

I was really trying my best to find a way to get Brandon Nimmo into more games with the Bruce backup first idea. But now they sent Nimmo down to AAA, probably to stay fresh with more at bats there, then he would begetting here.

The guy I am waiting on is Todd Frazier. A low BA and no HR's. I think he'll be fine, but he hasn't caught hold yet. It's still early though.

We'll see.

Plus, you NYM fans know that the injuries will play into this eventually and the guys sitting right now and some down in AAA will see more game time soon enough.
