Yesterday’s results – Reports of the demise of SP Cameron Planck are highly exaggerated. Out of nowhere, he returned yesterday to once again pitch for the GCL Mets. Guess what? Another one batter pitching performance. ERA down to 27.00. What is going on here?... Eric Hanhold threw a scoreless inning as wll in the same game… DSL starter Cesar Loaiza made the trip across the bay and opened us as a GCL reliever: 1.0-IP, 0-R… SP Christofer Dominguez pitched five scoreless innngs in the DSL-1 game, lowering his ERA to 1.36… Robert Colina (3.29) and Juan Martinez (5.40) combined for a 3-hit 1-0 DSL-2 shutout… Las Vegas 1B Peter Alonso’s bat continues to heat up: 3-6, 2-R, 2-doubles, HR, 3-RBI, batting average up to 232… in Florida, St. Lucie’s SP Anthony Kay got off to a shaky start (3-R in 2-IP) but ened with only giving up three in five (3.21)… in Brooklyn, two more scoreless innings for Yeudy Colon (0.44)…

  

Roster Moves –  The Mets 2018 14^th round pick, 23/yr. old LHRP Andrew Mitchell, was promoted from Rookie-Kingsport to Low/A-Brooklyn. Mitchell went 0.75/1.17, 10-G, 12-IP, 16-K for K-Port… RHP Yeizo Campos was transferred from A-Columbia back to A-Brooklyn. The 22-year Campos 14-G, 5-starts, 3.33, 1.27 for the Fireflies and is now going the wrong way…

Nosebleed Sports on Mets At Deadline –

Well, fellow Mets fans, I hate to do this, but once more we lost on the trade deadline. For the past few months all we have seen in the news was that one of the Mets star pitchers would be dealt by the deadline. Well the time came and the team did nothing about it. The most talked about name was Zack Wheeler and where he would end up. I thought the Mets were in the driver’s seat to make a big move happen and they completely balked at moving him. Over his past few starts Wheeler was absolutely dealing with a 3.20 ERA over the last 2 months. He made a strong case that he should be traded to a contender and to be honest I wish he was because he does deserve it. I get it the team does not want to go into a total rebuild, but at least move some parts and get back some prospects for them. Players like Jose Bautista or Devin Mesoraco could have been dealt for prospects but that did not happen either. I do not know what was going on in the front office, but I understand it. It takes a lot of courage to pull the trigger on a move that will bring in the right prospects for a team. The Mets obviously aren't winning anything this year and after getting blown out 25-4 (the worst loss in franchise history), fans are embarrassed and are wondering if the team should have made a move of 2. We also do not know if the team should have moved deGrom or Syndergaard either and got a ton of prospects for them, but I know for one thing, many people maybe unhappy they did because people feel as if the run for the Mets is over and the team's pitchers didn't live up to the hype. I don't hate them not moving those 2 pieces if they didn't get the right players back, but if they did then we will see the effects down the road. I do believe however, that they should have traded a veteran that could help a team down the stretch.

Projected Top 10 Pick - MLB Draft 2019   -

        Adley Rutschman, C, Oregon State

After his freshman season at Oregon State ended in 2017, Rutschman was relatively unknown on the college baseball landscape — and for good reason. He hit just .234 for the year and was not viewed by opposing pitchers as much of an offensive threat. The following summer in the Cape Cod League, he hit a lowly .164 in 20 games for the Falmouth Commodores. This season, however, Rutschman burst onto the scene with the Beavers, batting .380 on the year with six home runs and 66 RBIs, while walking more than he struck out. The performance was enough to earn him an invite to try out for Team USA this summer and put him in contention to be the first catcher off the board next June. Scouts love his approach and patience at the plate, and his prowess behind it, as he has one of the more feared arms in the Pac-12. Playing on the international circuit this summer will give big-league clubs a chance to see Rutschman hit with a wood bat, against the best in the world, and determine whether he’s worthy of their top pick in 2019.

Ex-Mets pitcher, Marcos Molina, has been suspended for the rest of the season for testing positive for the performance enhancing substance Clostebol. Molina had a 6-66-ERA this season, and this was on PEDs.

Buster Olney - Sources: As the Mets begin to do some background work on potential GM candidates, one of the possible candidates they have asked about is former Red Sox GM Ben Cherington, 44. He served as Boston's GM for four seasons, including 2013, when the Red Sox won the World Series.

Something has to be worked out with the catcher situation in the Dominican. The DSL-1 roster lists four catchers in their top five hitters. They are:

Considering that catching is a weak spot in the Mets pipeline, they might want to consider moving two of the kids to Florida. It’s obvious that Martinez is past any consideration due to his age.
