North Jersey just did an article on Adam Oller. It said this, including about his velocity, which makes me wonder why he cannot be a starter for the Mets at some point in 2022:

"He played independent ball in 2019 and struck out 16 batters in his final game before the Giants signed him. He performed well for the organization’s low-A affiliate, and the Mets, who eventually selected him, were intrigued by the analytics on his breaking ball, which is like a curveball and a slider.

In 2021, Oller posted a 4.03 ERA over 76 innings in Double A before pitching to a 2.45 ERA over 44 frames at Triple A. The Mets’ affiliates used him exclusively as a starting pitcher. Oller took the COVID-19 year, when minor league baseball had to cancel its season, seriously and it showed as he refined his changeup and cutter, which have made a huge difference in how the righty pitches to lefties. He sat 93-96 mph and touched 97 this year.

Oller’s goal for 2022 is simple: Debut in the big leagues. "

He basically finished the season in 2021 very much like Chris Fexen finished in Korea in 2020 - with a SURGE. He is my underdog for 2022.

so his ERA for jumping up a league goes down a buck and a half. . looks like it should be around 1.00 in Citi :-)

Kidding aside, I am optimistic he can give some decent innings in 2022.

and another aside, I am a little disappointed to see that Franklyn Kilome became a free agent. Was hoping for more from him.

Injuries really set Franklyn back. He lost a year to Tommy John then COVID hit and he was used sparingly in 2020 and just when he started to get into a groove with Syracuse last year - he got hurt again. With so many teams needing pitching expect him to sign a minor league deal with someone for next year.

I thought that I like Kilome, but I never saw growth. That he can throw a ball through a wall, is common in today’s game; most minor league pitchers can. The trick is knowing where it’s going.

On Oller, I hope they don’t blow it and leave him unprotected. The last screw up they had was probably the pitcher the Cardinals took and put in the bullpen. The Mets need to protect their pitching. Open up a space by cutting Guillorme or Mazeika for all I care, protect the pitching.
