Press Relaese: Mets Protect Mauricio, Oller, Vientos, and Butto from Rule 5 Draft - get Nunez back.

FLUSHING, N.Y., November 19, 2021 – The New York Mets today announced infielders Ronny Mauricio and Mark Vientos, RHP José Butto and RHP Adam Oller were selected to the 40-man roster.

In addition, RHP Dedniel Núñez was returned to the Mets organization and added to Triple-A Syracuse. Núñez was selected by San Francisco in last year's Rule 5 Draft.

Smart moves.

The only reason Senger would get drafted in Rule 5 (if he gets drafted) is so the drafting organization can use him in spring training to help catch pitchers.

Metoyer has a great spin rate curveball but walked 8 guys in 9 innings at AFL. Think anyone is trusting that in the big leagues?

Cortes isn’t eVen that ready for AAA, much les MLB. What’s his position exactly?

Holder man has the best chance of getting picked, but he gives up too many hits for his velo. I expect a smart organization to grab him.

Gus - great points. I also think that this year will be a very strong Rule 5 draft. I think lots of teams will have guys that could get plucked. I think that will save many of the Mets guys. Metoyer coming off an injury and his injury history alone may prevent him from getting slected.

Nick Meyer is my sleeper to get taken. An elite defensive catcher is hard to come by. He would have options for a major league team that would allow them to keep him at AAA after this year.

Cortes’ second half fade pushed him off the 40 man. Now we’ll see if someone grabs him. 50-50 to me.

Good to have Dennie back where he belongs.

Dedniel, not Dennie. Thank you, Tablet.
