What do, Mack, myself, and Jacob deGrom have in common?
Well, when we can't get to the mound, our game results are equal.
The Mets could have traded 2 time Cy Young award winner Jacob deGrom this offseason, and raked in a boatload of talent, and then signed the far more durable (of late) Marcus Stroman, or another quality starter arm.
But they stayed with Jake.
They stayed with Matt Harvey after 2016, when a trade would have netted a boatload, and that backfired.
Should the Mets have traded the fragile deGrom, rather than take a chance on 2022 end-to-end dominance? Would you have skinned the cat differently than the Mets did?

Yes on the trade front but then they should have done that with Wright, Wheeler and Thor but then again that makes to much sense and except for the Dickey trade it's not usually done.

Mack is not the only one who is saying that - where there is smoke, there's fire, they say.
Early in the spring, we heard how well Dom Smith looked and how he homered twice off Scherzer, etc, etc, etc. we wondered if he would in fact be the odd man out seeing how his position is taken, Cano makes him redundant as a 1B/DH bat, and someone seemed to have to go. Now we hear the Chris Paddock rumors. Not bad, I guess. Hosmer? LOL!!! Guy sucked every year but one! Give me a kid as well, to take the scrub and pay him for your mistake.
With brings us to the injuries… JDG and Maxie Sche are both shelved. There’s enough there to last a month and Paddock would help.
No to Stroman. I have not forgiven 2020. Made sure he got his service time and checked out with full pay. Screw him and his agenda.
No one wants Stroman - me neither, frankly. I too was totally PO'd about his 2020 check out, which cost them the playoffs.
If you're missing Jake for a long time, and Max also for any length of time, we need Pollack or someone similar. We might have enough to get by - but usually, that theory does not work in practice.
The trade Jake question was a good one at the beginning of the off season, of course, based on return. However, that question was answered by the Scherzer signing, which signaled the all in now. Was that wise, given how strong the Braves are? Time will tell, but if the two older HOF arms can't play due to health, it's a bust for sure.
